Captured 22nd Feb 2020. A 2 hour allegedly clear slot hampered by intermittent faint high cloud. An opportunity to stress test SharpCap 3.3 beta. During the 2h session, I captured ~140Gb of lunar data using a Skywatcher 127 MAK and 3 cameras - Skyris 618m CCD, Altair 183M CMOS and $10 Sweex webcam (modified for astro use). No frames were dropped during the session!

SER files were stacked with Autostakkert!3. Post processed with GIMP 2.12 - adjust gamma, sharpen (unsharp mask), contrast.

Skyris 618m, MONO16, 640x480, 7200 frames @120fps, SER, exposure 4ms, gain 323/1000, IR685 filter



Altair 183M, MONO8, 1920x1200, 2000 frames @35fps, SER, exposure 7ms, gain 800/4999, IR685 filter



Sweex webcam, YUY2, 640x480, 2400 frames @40fps, SER, exposure 30ms, IR Cut filter

Very nice Dave, pretty sharp detail for the size of the view. Probably the 8 bit CMOS camera image shows the most detail? However I can't see AC Clarke's excavations of the monolith ?

Thanks Tim. I hope to revisit this using my Celestron C8. The 127 MAK does very well for a budget scope.

Yes I was comparing it with an image I had obtained using a 10 inch Dob (F 4.7). Yours is markedly sharper. Tim

The Skywatcher 127 MAK is f/11 with a focal length of 1500mm - which helps with lunar/planetary/solar. I also have a Celestron C8 which is f/10 with focal length 2032mm which is better still providing the seeing is good. I have never had any experience with Dobs.
