Copernicus, Kepler and Aristarchus crater rays

#1

Post by Menno555 »

The crater rays on the moon always spark my interest somehow. When I make moon captures, I always focus on that.

This enhancement is to really bring forward the crater rays of Copernicus (right), Kepler (lower left) and Aristarchus (upper left).
The colors are not added, they are strengthened during processing.

Mosaic out of 3 stacks.
Meade LX200 8" f/10 ACF OTA
Ioptron CEM25EC mount (no guiding)
Zwo ASI385MC camera

Captured with SharpCap Pro
10,000 x 7.7 ms for each stack with Gain 120 / Offset 15 / White balance R76/B55

Stacked in Planetary System Stacker
Best 5 % (500 exposures) used for each stack

Processed in Photoshop
levels, curves, color strengthening, shadows/highlights, Astronomy Tools local contrast enhancement, deconvolution sharpening (action by Greg Benz)

Thanks Bruce!!
And it's not really a close-up, this part covers up almost 25% of the surface ;)

Nice, Menno! Cranking up the saturation really highlights the changes in mineral content.
