NGC 5394/5395 challenge Oopfan

Post by Menno555 »

I accepted the challenge by Oopfan for a NGC 5394/5395 capture and here it is.
Challenge indeed because for my scope with it's small FOV there are not many bright stars. Which became obvious with stacking.
I did a session of 300 x 30 seconds but DeepSkyStacker only allowed 180. Not because of the stars but because some values could not be detected, no matter what I did.
Also the "ripples" in the background but going to try manual dithering, seems that that is possible :)
So all in all I am satisfied-with-mixed-emotions with this capture :)

Excellent, Menno! You captured the "bridge" between the galaxies. Yes, there are few stars. My only recommendation is to increase exposure in order to give the faint stars time to burn in so as to give DSS something to bite into.

Thanks Brian.
Will try it again for sure, with 60 seconds then. Can't go any higher because of the light pollution here.

Very good Menno. I will have a shot at this tomorrow night, weather permitting.
