Live Stack March 6 & 7 2019

Post by BlackWikkett »

Been a while since I've posted some live stack results. Here's the latest effort from a few nights ago. All images captured via SC live stacking and saved as seen. This generates an 8 bit PNG image that I ran through Photoshop 2019 for color balance and a touch noise reduction.

Equipment:
RC 6 FL 1370 F/9, ZWO ASI183MC Pro, cooler at -15c, IDAS D1 LPS filter, using flat and dark master.
Used bin 2 to arrive at image scale .72 arcsec/pixel. If you follow link to Flicker you'll see capture details for each image.

Great shots!
Are you saying these are binned x2, using a colour camera?
I thought that binning destroyed the bayer colour info on an osc camera,
Or am i being thick

I can elaborate a little with my limited understanding.

Normal one shot color pixel

RG
GB

Bin2 OSC pixel ( something like this not 100% on this )

RGRG
GBGB

The normal bin 1 resolution of the camera is 5496 x 3672 at bin 2 2744 x 1836. The images posted are less than this. I forgot to mention in the original post that dithering is applied every 4 frames. This causes a significant border fringing (not sure what to call it but it's ugly) that was cropped out of final image.

Ah right,
I understand.
And dithering is mandatory I feel to get rid of ‘colour mottle’ noise.
Certainly all working well for you 👍🏻
