Apennine Mountains, Skywatcher 127 MAK + QHY5L11-M

A lunar shot containing the Apennine Mountains. A quick capture taken from a car park at a meeting of the local astronomy club.

  • Celestron CG5 mount, Skywatcher 127 MAK, QHY5LII-M, no filters, partial/thin cloud.
  • 1000 frames, MONO16, SER, captured at 15fps.
  • Autostakkert 3, stack and sharpen best 10% of 1000 frames.
  • GIMP for Contrast and dust bunny removal.

Brian (@oopfan) has pointed out Hadley Rille, which is close to the landing site of Apollo 15 - thanks Brian. Hadley Rille can be seen on the full resolution image at my Astrobin account https://www.astrobin.com/391271/0/.

Thanks Brian. Hopes this demonstrates that decent results can be achieved with modest equipment. I used the saturation indicator in FX to saturate and back off the exposure until the saturation effect disappeared.

A re-process of this. The SER file was stacked with AS!3 using Resample 2.0 X (best 15% of 1000 frames )and the unsharpened output file was sharpened in Registax 6 (wavelet settings below). GIMP for crop, remove dust motes, contrast.
