My azimuth and altitude knobs are not accurate enough

Post by jgmouton »

Hi,

At step 3 in SharpCap 2.9 I could never put the star exactly in the circle.

Sometimes the alignment error was down to 20" and that was the best I could do. The Next button remained greyed out however. My azimuth and altitude controls are not accurate enough. The 2 lines were very very close and every time I tried to come closer I would go too far.

Maybe the circle is not a bit bigger to accommodate the lack of accuracy in the mount controls.

I was surprised I could not enter my lat and long data in the software because I read somewhere it was necessary for PA. Is that normal?

What can I do? Thank you for your help and this great program!

Cheers

Actually, the answer here is not to worry - any alignment closer than 2 minutes of arc is probably good enough. One minute of arc is considered excellent.

The next button on the last page never goes green in 2.9 - I've improved that for 2.10 with some UI to tell you that your alignment is 'poor', 'fair', 'good' or 'excellent' to give you a better idea of when to stop adjusting! I must make sure that the Next button isn't shown on the last stage though as that is misleading!

cheers,

Robin
