Hi,

I've certainly seen the same thing in the accessory point mountings on Celestron SCTs - the screw holes are either wrongly placed or there is only one of them. I also had an OAG at one point that was so wobbly as to be useless – I ended up drilling and tapping extra holes in the body for grub screws to hold it solid!

Cheers, Robin

Hello Brian,

I have already replied to your private message.
(I couldn't add the image in a private message. So I borrowed this topic and sent it to you.)

The text string part you're asking about is the next image, right?

Watanabe-san,

I see, very interesting.

So, I should use Katakana for "mount": マウント (maunto)
and Kanji for "pier": 桟橋 (sanbashi)

I thought that 桟橋 should only be used to describe a Wharf.

ありがとうございました。

Watanabe-san,

こんにちは。

After careful consideration, I am going to change the terminology from "Pier" to "Equipment". On the website's home page I will show the following for Japanese users:

How is my translation, OK?

ありがとうございました。

Hi Brian,

Yes, I think it's fine as defined.

Actually, I used the string "pier" (sanbashi) because it was the first choice for the literal translation of "pier". I didn't have any deep meaning.

Even if there is some strange character string in the sentence, the Japanese can judge the character string before and after it and understand the whole sentence to some extent.

As I wrote in PM, in the upcoming new user manual,
I will write "If the mount is on a steel pillar that supports the mount, then the bolts on the mounting plate for that pillar ...". 「マウントがマウントを支える鋼鉄製の柱にある場合、その支柱の取り付けプレートのボルトは・・・」
