Any issues using a color camera for polar alignment?

#1

Post by rpsutton »

Hi Everyone,

I know that monochrome cameras are more sensitive than color ones, but I already have a zwo asi385mc and was wondering of there would be any issues using that for the polar alignment/plate solving in sharpcap? The guide scope I would be using is 50mm with a f/l of 190mm. According to astronomy.tools the FOV of that combo would be 2.19° x 1.24°. As far as I can tell, it should work fine - pls let me know if I am missing something.

thanks!

HI, No problems using colour camera.
I use a ZWO asi 120mc, also a Gstar EX4.
70mm f300 refractor with a diagonal. home made.
I have also used my ZWO asi 294 pro.
I have also used a 90mm f5 refractor.
all these piggybacked on my 10inch F4.5 or my 8inch F5.
all with great results.
John.
