Shapcap POlar Alignment and Polemaster

Hi,

I am currently using Polemaster for polar alignment of my mount. I am considering adding a secondary measure for better alignment results and do not know if Sharpcap will work for me. I use OAG on a C8 SCT and the field of view on my main camera is 22 minutes. I believe this is lower than recommended field of view. I wonder if Sharpcap can use my Polemaster for alignment refinements?

Thanks

Farzad

Hi,

The field of view using your OAG sounds as though it will be too small for SharpCap polar alignment to work using the image from that camera. However I have heard reports of people using the SharpCap polar alignment routines with their Polemaster camera to perform polar alignment, so that may be worth a try.

Cheers, Robin

Hi. I always use the Polemaster camera on the mount and run it with Sharpcap. In my opinion it is more accurate than the PM software as that involves user input, like setting a template and clicking on stars. With SC it platesolves, you slew the mount and then follow the on screen prompts to adjust. I do this method every session on a tripod setup and my guiding is usually at 0.5" total RMS. Have even got into 0.3" on a good night. I don't have time for drift aligning!

Hello

Am I to understand that you can use Polemaster camera as a supported device in the SharpCap PA procedure?

That sure sounds like a winner!

Thx
