Re: additive stacking
Hi,
SharpCap always uses an additive stacking algorithm by default, but the output image is always re-scaled according to the brightest value in the additive stack, so the image display does not seem to get brighter as more frames are added. Instead you will notice that the noise level of the image drops away as more frames are added to the stack which will allow you to use a more aggressive stretching function to pull out the dimmer areas more effectively.
Any truly additive stacking algorithm that didn't rescale would soon saturate after a few tens of frames and so wouldn't really be very useful.
Cheers, Robin
