Here is an aligned and stacked (5x15s) version using a tool in PixInsight called Comet Alignment. It is unfortunate that I used too much of an exposure time as I was just guessing. This was from a C11" EdgeHD using an ASI2600 MC Pro. Very low in the horizon.

My Skywatcher mother board blew up several months ago, so I tracked the comet manually.
The DeepskyStacker you mentioned for comet stacking is that the same as Sharpcap Live view?
and presumably that would also failed to stack due to lack of target stars.

A couple years ago I used DSS's Comet Mode precisely for the fact that it only needed one "star" for alignment, not nine which is normally the case. When I used it, it was for a DSO in a sparsely populated star field which it rejected in "Normal Mode". These days if my subject were a comet then I would tell DSS to track the nucleus not any of the stars. That's how I would do it.

Do you remember which setting? I tried DDS and it would say each time that not enough stars were detected. Tried all 3 comet settings.

I’m enjoying and learning from the discussion in all these posts. I’ve always seen comet photos that either showed the comet clear and tracked well with star trails, or sharp stars with blurry comet. I love the colors in Bruce’s image, and both stars and comet are sharp/clear. Using SharpCap livestack with my ZWO ASI294MC-pro camera I’m also seeing both sharp/clear comet and stars. This one is deliberately overexposed and histo stretched to try to see the ion tail. It is a livestack of six 10-second frames with gain at 250. My Bortle 7 light pollution hides faint details like an ion tail but with a bit of imagination it can be seen in this image ever so faintly. With the extreme overexposure most color is lost. I think that is also due to the camera seeing infrared since I didn’t use a filter. Perphaps with an IR block filter some colors would be better. I adjusted the livestack histogram for equivalent RGB profiles. The “scope” for this image is a Canon 50mm FD lens at f4.

A quick view (stacked 5 x 30s) of Neowise from Bracknell U.K. about 11 pm on 22/07. WO 110mm fluorite APO at F 5.6, AS1294PRO and then PixInsight. Exposure probably a bit long since the movement versus background stars was obvious within just a couple of minutes

Thanks. It had been cloudy all evening during set up so I was delighted that the NorthWestern sky did eventually clear and afforded my first good view of the comet. Also thanks to Stellarium making life easy with finding it.

being new to this forum, i'm still finding my way around.

just discovered this thread - there are some really nice Neowise images! thought i'd add a couple of my own.
the second (i think) i've over-processed, but as a beginner, i'll learn from this.
