Thanks, that makes sense. I had done livestack before with my osc, why I was surprised.

Re: Live Stacking box greyed out -- could not use
OK. So I can use live stacking with raw with my mono camera but not my osc... interesting. (I was changing filters yesterday and gave it a try... the option did not disable itself with the mono camera). So its really the debayering that disables it, yes?
thanks,
greg

Saving sky limited exposure calculations
I find the 'brain' sky limited exposure calculator helpful -- just two small points. 1. when it asks to point to a dark area of the field, there doesn't appear to be any way of doing this. I have tried picking a spot or drawing a frame but nothing seems to happen. It goes ahead and does something, t...

Live Stacking box greyed out -- could not use
I have been resolving some issues with my tracking and wanted to use Live Stacking to track my drift -- using a well-populated star field. But when I opened LiveStacking, the enabling box was greyed out. I normally run with dark subtraction. Am on an HP mini with AMD Pro A10-3700E (3.5ghz), 8gb main...

Thanks, Robin.
I assume you will inform QHY of this little feature. Sounds like a bug in their camera firmware.

Re: QHY183c TEC problems with Sharpcap 3.2
OK, Robin. Here are the logs from this. My normal approach is to bin2, high gain, short exposure for focusing (temp ok). Then change settings in order, top to bottom. Bin1, longer exposure, reduce gain. Somewhere in here the TEC has an issue -- the setpoint field goes to -100 but the temperature ris...

Robin,
Do all these factors get logged if I kick in the more detailed reporting? Will definitely do that at the next available chance (currently projected to be Friday...).

Re: QHY183c TEC problems with Sharpcap 3.2
Robin, Finally a clear night. Noticed something very interesting. Typically, when I focus I put my QHY183c into bin2 state and kick the gain way up. Temp holding nicely. Now that I am focused and pointing at my target I put bin and gain back to where I want it -- bin1 and gain around 12. That is whe...

I will do that the next time the skies clear. And yes, low level trace files are a bear to work with sometimes...

Re: QHY183c TEC problems with Sharpcap 3.2
Just an update on this... I have recently acquired a QHY183M camera to use with narrowband and solar. At first I thought TEC was handled better than the 183c, but a number of nights working with it show the same temperature control issues. I have downloaded the indicated components from QHY, did a g...
