Plate Solving Issues

Last night I did a starwatching session. I installed the latest SharpCap and ASCOM version (before that gave me COM port issues). I initially had no trouble plate solving. There was the near Full Moon in the sky. Then I am not able to plate solve despite setting longer exposures and increasing gain....

Re: Changing The Cooling Rate

Hi, if you have the very latest SharpCap (4.0.7995) then you will have a cooling rate adjustment for both the sequence planner and sequence editor. For instance see - https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Cooling . I think that's what you are looking for. cheers, Robin Thank you Robin. I am bit overwhel...

Changing The Cooling Rate

I just downloaded the most recent version of SharpCap 4.0. I tested out the Sequencer and wanted to slow cool the camera to keep the dew out. Is there a way to change from 8°C per minute to let say 1°C per minute?

Field Of View For Polar Alignment

Is it possible to polar align with SharpCap without using a guide scope and with field of view of less than 0.5 degrees?

Re: Slowing Down Cooling

Hi, there is no option to do this in the current version of SharpCap, but the sequencing tool that is going to be in SharpCap 3.3 will have the ability to do this. I'm hoping to get a very early prerelease version of SharpCap 3.3 out for alpha testing within the next week or two. Cheers, Robin I se...

Slowing Down Cooling

I have an ASI294mc Pro and I see some weird artifact at the center when I set the cooling at -20. Now, when I set it to -5, I do not see it. When I set the cooling on SharpCap, the camera cools fast, which likely causes condensation and dew to build up. I do not have that problem in the winter. Is t...

Re: Plate Solving Issues

Hi, If you can share the SharpCap log file from the case where the telescope seemed to slew randomly then maybe we can work out what was going wrong. Sometimes you can get a false match with plate solving that can be a long way away from the real location in the sky, but SharpCap limits the search ...

Plate Solving Issues

Just came back from starwatching. I used Sharpcap plate solve with no problems. It worked without any problems. This time the plate solver did not work as well. When I tried to plate solve APM 08279+5255, my telescope would go crazy. The telescope would try to slew, but get caught on some part of th...

admin wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2019 9:27 pm Hi,

Yes, absolutely – once you've installed the plate solving application and all its data files, there should be no need for an Internet connection.

Cheers, Robin
Thank you. I could use it out in the field or at an outreach. 8-)
