Re the Celestron Nextimage burst, I see this comment about long exposures:

Re: Polar align cordinates
Do we know if the CELESTRON NEXIMAGE BURST CAMERA - MONOCHROME supports > 1 sec exposure? That's the AR0132 sensor. A little more pricey than I had in mind but if that's the minimum it takes... Also I found a page that is supposedly all long exposure CMOS USB box cams, but I can't find any pricing a...

USB box camera support for PA
Is there support for an inexpensive "usb box camera"? Like the ones used on drones with S mount (12mm) lenses? I'm wondering about an under $75 or $50us solution for Polar alignment, for folks with guide scopes that are too long or using off axis guiding. I would guess IR monochrome would ...

Re: Polar align cordinates
FYI my FOV is 30.9 x 41.2 arcmin so just at the recommended 0.5 degree.
1.93 Arcsec/pix.

Re: Polar align cordinates
Yeah but I think messing with a dialed in and cinched down autoguide setup to do PA is a bad plan. Going from the 50mm guide scope to the ST80 usually gives people a 2x improvement in guiding so I still think 400mm and 80mm dia is the way to go for a guide scope with large FL reflectors. FYI Orion s...

Polar align cordinates
in 3.1.5203 last night I tried the Polar Alignment. I think there is a bug in entering the GPS position in the SharpCap settings. Over several tries pressing apply the changes were not reflected in the PA tool, even after restart. Changes didn't stick in the settings dialog either. At one point I no...

Re: Failed Brain Exposure Calc: No Solution
OK, not sure I understand the low to high conversion gain or if it applies to zwo asi1600 but: Is "max DR in the final stack" assuming that there is interesting stuff in all parts of the histogram? For instance, in NB we probably don't care about stars being clipped (other than bloat) beca...

Re: Failed Brain Exposure Calc: No Solution
Also, What I really hoped to get out of this capability in SharpCap is to get an estimate of best exposure without taking multiple long exposures. With DSLR, I teach people to use the highest available iso, say 12800, and take short (10 seconds to under a couple of minutes) exposures to determine a ...

Re: Failed Brain Exposure Calc: No Solution
OK thanks.
Please also increase the maximum integration time in the Brain to like 12 hours or more.
I'm doing multiple nights on the same target and need 10+ hours to pull detail out of the light pollution (at least when doing LRGB/OSC)
