Re: Recommendations on guide scope and camera

I have a QHY miniGuidescope for the Star Adventurer. You can buy it with or without the camera if you want to get one with a different sensor and/or colour. I have both a mono and colour. Both are fine. Colour is handy if you plan to get a telescope and want to do planetary imaging in the future. I ...

Re: Recommendations on guide scope and camera

Kia Ora from across the ditch. I use a QHY5L with a 25mm C-mount lens which is the same as the Polemaster (which you may have heard of). I use this to polar align my Star Adventurer and larger mounts/telescopes. I mount the camera/lens on the Star Adventurer and then point it south(ish) which is hal...

Re: Using a CS lens for polar alignment tool?

I use a QHY5L (same sensor size) with a 25mm lens which is the same as the Polemaster. Being in the southern hemisphere, we are pointing it into a big dark void so the wide field of view helps a lot. At a dark site, SharpCap solves almost straight away.

Re: All sky findescope for manual mounts

I'm pretty sure that you can do what the OP is trying to achieve already by using the ASCOM simulated telescope. With Carte du Ciel, you'd tell the simulated telescope to go to say, M42 by putting a (red) finderscope at the location and telling it to slew there. Manually point your scope to the same...

Re: QHY183c TEC problems with Sharpcap 3.2

Robin,
I don't have my laptop with me to check versions etc, but I had the same trouble (worked manually but not on auto) with my QHY174 the other night. I know we have the same model so you might want to try your camera just to check.

Re: SharpCap Timestamp accuracy

Would AstroFlashTimer (https://sites.google.com/site/astroflashtimer/home) be of any use to you ? It's intended for occultations and has been tested against the IOTA VTI.

Re: SharpCap 3.2 Beta now available

Did command line camera selection make it into 3.2 ?
Is there a historical change log that I could have searched before asking ?

Can I have a QHY5LiiM and a QHY5LiiC

Can I have two QHY5Lii (either one M and one C or two of the same type) cameras attached and appear as distinct items in SharpCap ?

Re: problem with QHY174 GPS

I was going to ask if you'd connected the antenna as that would be the response if you hadn't.
Then I remembered that the antenna module that came with my camera wasn't very reliable. I already had another one which I swapped in and it hasn't missed a beat since then.

Re: Folder Monitor Camera

Yes. That seems to work now. Thanks.

I dropped a North pole shot into the polar align function and it solved straight away so Nick might be in luck. I didn't have as much luck with a South pole shot but I wouldn't read anything into that yet. I need to play with it some more.
