Re: The Swan M17 NGC 6618
Very nice. Only seen M17 myself once from here in the UK low down in the South -- and that visually from a dark sky site in south devon. Tim

Re: The Draco Trio / NGC 5982 Group
Nice field to pick and capture Menno. Tim PS By coincidence --or maybe just that it is the season for the trio ..there is a post from Jeffbax Veloceraptor -- I think part of a French consortium on Astrobin - imaging the same Draco galaxy trio -- but who I think have access to a monster telescope and...

Re: SN2023ixf in M101 from Tuscany - Italy
Just to add a 5 day later observation of the same thing - This is from Bracknell - Thames valley UK combining 197 x 40s luminance frames (F4 12 inch telescope, 2.415 u pixel size AS1294MM) on the nights of 25 and 26 May 2023. The luminance was added to a colour image from last year (just thought it ...

Re: Progress towards a high resolution deep colour image of M3
Thanks Dave , Well at least I can console myself with the fact that down here in the deep south at 51.5 degrees the astro-twilight is only about 6-7 weeks. As I think you have seen I reworked the original image to take advantage of more of the data acquired (as per my note to Robin) and put it onto ...

Re: Progress towards a high resolution deep colour image of M3
Robin [Interesting that the deconvolution worked best with a larger number of total frames - my suspicion is that it will be related to the lower noise level if you stack more frames. Sharpening algorithms of all kinds tend to be limited in how much sharpening can be used by the noise level of the ...

Hi Doug,
It is really impressive to see measurements like these and the level of accuracy - research paper stuff less than 30 years ago - now accessible to amateurs. Well done and thanks for writing it up here.

Re: SN2023ixf in M101
Really exciting to see that. well done, I use SC the same way. Even on the worst nights you can leave it running using the filters in livestack and still capture things.
