Make Logs location selectable
Robin, a suggestion: it would be nice if it were possible to re-locate SharpCap's logs onto another disc, rather than the default Windows option of writing them to the AppData folder, which has to be on the system disc - my system disc is getting quite full, and if I enable additional logging, then ...

Re: SharpCap 4.1 Beta Update - 16th January 2023
Robin, I couldn't call this a bug, but maybe sub-optimal behaviour? I started a live stack on M42 with an H-Alpha filter, looking for max dynamic range, and thus BRAIN recommend 5 minute exposures... I usually use sigma-clip stacking, but on this occasion thought I might as well go with averaging, s...

Robin,
another one for you: on the right, everything is fine: on the left, no histogram!
Closing, then re-opening the histogram from the toolbar fixes this...

Re: SharpCap 4.1 Beta Update - 13th December 2022
Hi, Robin, a rare clear night, here in Cheshire, so I'm out under the stars, with the latest beta... I recall seeing in the daily digest, someone raised strange live-stacking behaviour - frames not being stacked, when PHD is clearly guiding: I've just had this happen in both running instances: I cle...

Re: Stacking the stacks
Stacking dark & flat corrected subs… Example: I have 1000 subs. I calibrate them using APP and save the calibrated subs. I take the first 20 subs (in chronological order) and stack them in APP using no outlier rejection. I repeat the same process 49 times more. I now load all 50 stacks as Light...

Re: Stacking the stacks
Programs such as APP & StarTools only really work as intended when you feed them raw, linear subs to work on: if they have been pre-processed in some way, then the assumptions made in the stacking software don’t hold true, and so the results will be sub-optimal - how much so is very hard to say…...

Odd behaviour in dithering v4.0.9441
Robin, first time I've played with dithering, and I find that if I set to dither every 1-frame, SC instead only dithers after every other frame, reporting after a dither: "waiting for 1 frame before next dither" <new frame stacked> "waiting for 0 frames before next dither" <new f...

Robin,
please accept my apologies - I'm sure I asked you this same question last year <facepalm>

Possible bug: v4.0.9420
Robin, please see the attached screenshot - all FWHM figures are NaN, but stacking is fine... It's finding 130+ stars in the stack & each frame. I've chopped chunks out of the log, and left a couple of blank lines at each point: hope it still contains the interesting bits! Cheers, Carl Info 21:3...
