Re: Frame differences: Quick Capture, Snapshot, Live Stack, etc.

Hi Roger, A and B will be the same. The output of C from the final save will be the live stacked image, and may include a stretch (depending on which type of save you choose). However the *raw* frames saved by live stacking during C will not be stretched. One more thing to be aware of... Any adjustm...

Re: New Feature : Deep Sky Image Annotation

Hi,

yes, the CSV files use the '|' character as separator. The problem with using a comma is that in some countries, the comma is used as a decimal separator, so I try to avoid using a comma delimiter.

cheers,

Re: Gradient Removal Improvement

Hi, thanks for sharing the images - I will try to have a look shortly. The current background removal uses a linear model for the gradient to be removed, so it will only partially work when the gradient has more complex variation in it. From your screenshots it looks like there may be more of a defi...

Re: Combine Goto Co-ordinate with Goto Image

Hi Don,

now we're talking :) Adding an option to refine the position to 'Goto co-ordinates' makes perfect sense and is very easy to do.

cheers,

Re: 4.1 bugs

Hi, SharpCap shows the movement speeds in two formats 1) Multiples of sidereal (ie 1x, 2x, 4x) 2) Degrees per second In the case of feature tracking, it will almost always be the former that is shown. The ASCOM mount driver lists the various movement speeds it supports (which can be distinct speeds ...

Re: Previous focus setting

Hi,

good, that makes sense - I will change this in SharpCap 4.1 so that all autofocus steps will go back to the initial position on failure to find a best focus.

cheers,

Re: Stacking creating slices

Hi Gary, yes, I would be interested to dig into this - I tried a few tests myself and couldn't get anything like this to happen when re-loading FITS saved in SharpCap. I suspect there is something about the processed FITS that is not as I would expect - if you can upload one of them somewhere and sh...

Re: Frame differences: Quick Capture, Snapshot, Live Stack, etc.

Hi Roger, the key important difference is if the camera is in Live Mode or Still Mode (see https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Live%20Mode%20and%20Still%20Mode). In Live Mode, the camera grabs frames continuously, and if you press 'snapshot' or 'start capture' for a single frame then the next frame to ...

Re: Combine Goto Co-ordinate with Goto Image

Hi Don, well really the two are for different purposes... Goto Image will do it's best to reframe exactly as captured in a previous session, including rotation if you have a rotator and offsetting the target if you have done so for framing reasons. You cannot just do that from the catalog, as at bes...

Re: A different flat option for IMX294 based camera owners

Hi, on the subject of the Bin1 mode, I only have experience with other manufacturer cameras, where I have seen the same problem with failure to generate a saturated image when overexposed at low gains. The same test - massively overexpose and check that all pixels hit maximum brightness will work to...
