Re: Allow different +RA and -RA rates in Feature Tracking
Hi Mike, glad to hear that the calibration with the new option worked for you. Did you by any chance try the old way too (be interesting to find out if the mount rebuild helped that option or not)? For the chasing the seeing, I seem to recall from previous posts that you were keen on having the dead...

Re: Spurious hot pixel groupings occasionally appearing in some master darks
Hi Errol, sounds like a good plan. It is worth noting that even with matching temperature readings, the temperature sensor is only one point in the camera, so while the temperature readout may match, the actual temperature of the sensor may differ (or the temperature may vary across the sensor). Of ...

Re: Eclipse capabilities?
Hi Stephan, honestly, no, it's not something I want to add to SharpCap myself - it's not something I have any experience with, and there are a lot of potential pitfalls. I think in the end quite a number of people used the eclipse sequencing tool written by Linuxkidd, and the discussions and testing...

Re: Passing parameters to Python scripts from sequences
Hi, you're right - there isn't anything that directly allows that to happen. The way the 'run python' step works is to just load the code in the supplied file and start the Python engine running that code. It's not so much launching a new python interpreter (where you would expect to be able to set ...

Re: Sensor Analysis
Hi Robin, the easiest way to transfer everything accross is to use the Export/Import settings options (you will find them at the bottom of the settings window). This will transfer pretty much everything related to SharpCap from your old PC to the new one - just export the settings, copy the settings...

Re: Spurious hot pixel groupings occasionally appearing in some master darks
Hi Errol, I think your analysis is correct - you are getting hot pixels in the dark frame that are not present in the light frame, and are therefore over-correcting. It may be happening in the M81 image too, but the brighter background (no filter) may make the incorrect subtraction far less obvious ...

Re: Eclipse capabilities?
Hi Stephan, it's not something that I have built into SharpCap myself, but the tools to image an eclipse are all there, and some people used the SharpCap sequencing tool to generate automated image sequences to capture the recent eclipse (mostly) successfully. See this thread here on the forums http...

Re: SC losing connection with focuser
Hi, from the log, I can see an error at 02:35:22 where an autofocus scan is about to begin but SharpCap finds that the focuser ASCOM driver is not in the connected state when trying to begin the scan. The previous mention of the focuser at 02:29:39 shows that it was connected at that point. There ar...

Re: Direction control button switches off tracking
Hi Julian, OK, thanks for the clarification. The move buttons in SharpCap should not turn off tracking, but certainly the evidence of your guiding graph and other factors does make it look like tracking has been disabled and therefore PHD cannot guide. I have personally stopped using EQMOD and am no...

Re: Horsehead Nebula and Lunt LS60 THa
Hi, I don't see why not... It might be quite small as you will get a fairly widefield view of about 2 by 1.5 degrees (see https://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/). I presume that the blocking filter in the diagonal is the only filter in the LS60THa, meaning it is a normal telescope with t...
