Re: Canon 350D

Hi, SharpCap does not support DSLR cameras directly, but there is an ASCOM driver that can talk to some Canon, Nikon and other DSLR cameras - ASCOM.DLSR - see https://github.com/vtorkalo/ASCOM.DSLR I'm afraid I have no idea if it supports the 350D. I have used it with a 650D and 700D. cheers, Robin

Re: Dark flats option in Flats Capture

Hi,

thanks for the info on the long exposure flats needed for some ZWO cameras - that one has slipped past me as I don't tend to focus on the details of using one particular camera (I have too many others to think about!)

cheers,

Robin

Re: ADC Tool

Hi,

yes, someone else spotted the same bug earlier this week that with a high frame rate the ADC graph updates too rapidly and locks out the rest of the UI. I have a fix already and hope to release the fix in a new update tomorrow.

thanks,

Robin

Re: g2-1600 Moravian Instruments CCD with SharpCap 4.0

Hi,

there was a new SDK from Moravian that was first included in 4.0.7975. Please can you try 4.0.7975 and the previous version (4.0.7957) which has the older SDK so we can work out if the SDK was the cause of the camera not being detected.

thanks,

Robin

Re: Will it plate solve with ascom for centering

Hi, it's nice that Orion recommend SharpCap, but I must admit that they have never reached out to me to try to improve support for their cameras, so it's likely to remain DirectShow and ASCOM only for the immediate future. The flip of the image is not going to affect the plate solving process - the ...

Re: Translating SharpCap

Hi Menno, Focus Offset - this is a control for the testing camera - it applies a blur to the image to simulate being out of focus, so the meaning is (I suppose) the distance from best focus position. When this is set to zero the focus is normal, when set to + or - values, the image becomes blurrier ...

Re: Will it plate solve with ascom for centering

Hi, do the images look basically similar to you when using the two different connection options? I wonder if the ASCOM image is fainter/dimmer which would make it hard to detect the stars? Perhaps you could post screenshots or saved images from both options? cheers, Robin PS. It's usually not a good...

Re: Support of SharpCap in DeTeCt

Hi Marc,

glad that the new data helps. I think you can have mid capture times in your filenames if you choose the option to make them 'WinJupos' compatible - see https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Create ... le%20Names

Re: Dark flats option in Flats Capture

Hi, I deliberately avoid using minimum exposure as some cameras misbehave (over bright images) at or near their minimum claimed exposure level, and that leads to rubbish flat correction. 1ms keeps well clear of the danger zone and does not affect the flat correction quality (you could get a perfectl...
