Re: DSO Mosaic Planning /Live Stack Mosaics
Hi Geoff, great to hear that the moon mosaic tool with auto-align worked nicely for you :) Right now you could use another tool to generate the panel centers for the deep sky mosaic and then use the sequencer step 'for each RA/Dec Coordinate in <coordinate list file>' as the repeat block containing ...

Re: Looading ASTAP database
Hi Gene, I don't think the message about the h17/18 star database is coming direct from SharpCap - it isn't anywhere in the SharpCap code, so I think that Astap is creating that error message. The only thing that SharpCap checks for is that it can find Astap.exe in either the automatic location or t...

Re: QHY600m Drop Packets when Gain 160 during Sensor Analysis
Hi, The two things to check for this sort of problem are 1) USB cabling - if you are using USB extensions, hubs, etc, take them out and use a single cable direct from PC to camera (less than 2m length) 2) USB Traffic setting in the camera controls - try other values - lower typically gives higher fr...

Re: Help with Guiding and Imaging a target
Hi, to be honest with you, I would leave the guiding out of it until you are sure that you actually need it - try 15s or so exposures without guiding to get comfortable with finding and viewing the target, then increase exposure length gradually (or even better, use SharpCap's smart histogram functi...

Re: SharpCap and PHD2
Hi, the max dither step used by SharpCap is measured in guide camera pixels, so if you use 10 then SharpCap will ask PHD2 to dither up to 10 pixels (PHD2 picks a random amount up to the maximum). That will work out to be a dither of up to 30 arc seconds given your pixel scale. I think the scale opti...

Re: Focussing tools?
Hi, if you have connected the integrated camera then it sounds like you are viewing the image from the built in webcam in your laptop (lots of them have names like 'Integrated camera'). This camera obviously won't be affected by your ZWO EAF movement - you need to select your actual astro camera as ...

Re: Polar Alignment 4.1 64 bit bug
Hi, well, it's good to hear the the latest version worked fine for you, but I am still puzzled about why 4.1.11711 would misbehave - I just checked the code changes between the two versions and there doesn't seem to be anything relevant to polar alignment results... The only thing that does come to ...

Re: ToupTek Filter Wheel works not correctly
Hi, thanks for reporting - I can definitely fix the 'FILTERWHEEL' showing up as a camera - I did have an email about this from ToupTek, but at the time I did not really understand what they were referring to, but it all makes sense now ;) I tried installing the ToupTek ASCOM driver from https://www....

Re: How do I use the focussing assistant?
Hi,
there are plenty of videos showing how to work this made by SharpCap end-users - have a look and see which ones have a presentation style that you like
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... cus+assist
We don't have official tutorial videos for SharpCap though.
cheers,
Robin
