Re: After plate solving, target off keeps off center

Hi,

I think (hope) that setting the anti-backlash settings up correctly on the handset should help.

Have a look here : https://www.nexstarsite.com/OddsNEnds/Backlash.htm

cheers,

Robin

Re: CFA or not CFA that is the question ...

Hi, David and I are making some progress on this now. Unfortunately using the PhotometricInterpretation = CFA option creates TIFF files that cause problems for most viewing/editing software - either crash, failure to open or blank image. However it is possible to include the tags for the CFA pattern...

Re: After plate solving, target off keeps off center

Hi, thanks for sharing the log (for next time, you can attach the log file to a message, rather than posting the text, but no worries). I had a dig through and pulled out the relevant lines for the first attempt in the log Info 20:05:33.637513 #1 Before plate solving mount points to RA=12:32:25,Dec=...

Re: Plate solving with an az gti mount

Hi, so, the most obvious thing to do is to turn down the 'sigma' setting in the SharpCap plate solving settings page - that increases the sensitivity of the star detection by the plate solving application. However, the fact that you only see 13 stars on screen is a bit of a concern (particularly if ...

Re: Another Gain 0 compared to Gain 100 question

Hi, so the key is to look at the exposure recommended by the SharpCap 'Smart Histogram Brain' function. If that says that 30s at gain 100 is long enough (the calculation is based on the camera sensor characteristics and a measurement of the local sky brightness) then 30s is long enough. In those cir...

Re: GOTO from script and SynScan driver

Hi Jean-Francois, good to hear that the epoch stuff is all working as expected now. Solve/sync is easier this way SharpCap.Mounts.SelectedMount.SolveAndSync() That way no need to worry about closing the sequencer (which there isn't currently a way to do). Finally, don't think I can do much about the...

Re: Skyris 132C doesn't connect

Hi, did you install the driver pack for the camera from this page? https://www.theimagingsource.com/en-us/support/download/ Oddly, these cameras still show up in device manager and as a 'DirectShow' device in SharpCap without the driver installed, but they don't seem to work properly in that state. ...

Re: Help understanding the sky brightness sensor option.

Hi, yes, it's best to run this test when already pointing at the intended target. The test measures the darkest part of the image currently in view and works out optimized camera settings for that (which will automatically be fine for the brighter parts). If you do it in a different area of the sky,...

Re: GOTO from script and SynScan driver

Hi Jean-Francoise, good to hear that the explicit epoch worked. I think that the SlewTo(ra,dec) being J2000 is probably for the best, simply because it is then consistent with everything else in SharpCap that expects J2000 co-ordinates when you specify a location to move to. It's a bit odd at the mo...

Re: Another Gain 0 compared to Gain 100 question

Hi, the big difference between digital cameras and film SLRs is that with a digital camera you can take multiple images and stack them (well, in theory you could do this with film SLRs if you were a dark-room wizard, but in practice not...). So, you are quite right that using a higher gain is like u...
