Re: ErrorCode 0x800004003 using ASCOMDSLR

Hi Manfred, glad you got it sorted. The '.' and ',' issue traps a lot of software into issues, especially when reading/writing settings. I think SharpCap is largely OK now with '.' and ',' swapped (I have had enough users in France/Germany/etc for long enough to find and fix almost all the issues). ...

Re: Brightness with the new QHY5III678m

Hi, I think that the QHY SDK is giving SharpCap back 12 bit data for the camera (maximum pixel value 4095) rather than 16 bit data (maximum pixel value 65535) - this might be an issue with the QHY SDK, but if so then there is no current update (you have SharpCap 4.0.9545, which uses the latest QHY S...

Re: Temperature log file for focuser ?

Hi, ah, OK. Interesting though... I now have 3 Pegasus Astro autofocusers on various telescopes, so I have been using their 'Unity' application lots. That logs the focuser temperature to an on-screen graph, and I keep meaning to ask them to log the position too. From that sort of dual graph of focus...

Re: faulty ADV with QHY174

Hi Sven, thanks for that - the log pointed straight to the problem in the code. I think the issue happens if you make some change to the camera settings or hardware after capturing starts that means that subsequent frames have more metadata associated with them than the first frame that went into th...

Re: Plate solving problems

Hi Russ,

do you have a fairly old version of SharpCap by any chance? I think the manual location option for Astap got added some time after the original Astap support, so maybe you have a version from the period where there was no manual option...

cheers,

Robin

Re: New ASTAP Star Database not Recognized by SharpCap

Hi John, SharpCap doesn't know anything about the star database that Astap is using, so that message must be coming direct from Astap and being relayed on by SharpCap. I wonder if you need to run Astap once manually and tell it somewhere in its settings to use the new database. Then maybe it will re...

Hi Sven,

no attachments or links in that last post - looks like something didn't quite work.

Re: Cooler Control without effect

Hi, after you have shown the ASCOM settings for the Omegon driver, do the cooling controls in SharpCap still allow changes to be made (but the changes have no effect), or do they vanish completely or get disabled? From your description I think it is probably the first option, but it would be good to...

Re: Temperature log file for focuser ?

Hi, do you mean the temperaure being written to the capturesettings file when you capture (I can't think of anywhere that SharpCap will log the camera temperature otherwise)? If that is what you are thinking about then the most recent versions of SharpCap 4.0 (since September last year) will also wr...

Re: Plate solving improvement

Hi Roberto,

that's good to hear! I must admit that I didn't know that Stellarium could support multiple mounts at once and synchronize them, but good that it can :)

cheers,

Robin
