Re: New Feature : Deep Sky Image Annotation

Would it be possible (if considered desirable) to have the option to show the image scale (arcsec/pixel) (and maybe even the size of the field-of-view) somewhere on the image?

This is an awesome feature.

Re: Dark Frame and Flip

Maybe it's just me, but I prefer for the orientation to be set as if I was able to see the object without any optical enhancement; the exception being if it's shape is such that turning it 90 degrees would fit better within the rectangular frame of my camera's view. The flip setting allows me to do ...

Re: Bug with dark frame + black level adjustment

Just came across this interesting thread. I have noticed the same behavior when using an L'eXtreme filter with my 294MC Pro camera on an 8-inch SCT with 0.63x focal reducer. I am also using the sigma clipped stacking mode, and the exposure I'm using with that camera/scope combination (20-230 seconds...

Bit depth vs Gain

Time for another question about use of the smart histogram. As gain increases, there is a corresponding decrease in the dynamic range capability of the camera. At some point, there doesn't seem to be any benefit in using a higher bit depth over a lower one. In using the smart histogram to investigat...

Re: IC5070 Pelican Nebula in Hubble (SHO) Palette

Pretty! I too like the version with stars, not just because it has stars, but because of the greater apparent contrast that really makes the colors pop. Although some may say you went to far in that space is not "black," the starless version looks washed out and foggy in comparison to me. ...

Re: Histogram and Why?

Thank you Dave! I asked another person the same question - to be clear, adjusting the histogram in the live stacking mode does not impact the actual saved image, correct? It certainly can impact the actual saved image. Directly from the SharpCap user manual: The Save button has 4 sub options: · Sav...
