Re: Does a long active USB 3.1 cable affect capture quality?

Hi Menno555 I've found these USB extension cables to be hit and miss even comparing the same model cable from a manufacturer. The advertised speed is 5 Gbps which is no where near the 252 Mbps your 385 will output at 120 FPS. If and when you get a higher resolution camera that exceeds the bandwidth ...

Re: ZWO294 MC Pro best gain

Hi For live stacking using ASI294 I've found that 300 gain works very well for my Bortle 5/6 skies. I usually image at 30 sec 10 brightness 300 gain with darks / flats and cooler at -10. This is on an RC6 reduced to 1030 mm FL. Lose a step or 2 of dynamic range and gain a slight bit of noise over lo...

Re: Smart Histogram always way too dark, no matter what

About the noise: if I set that to 20% for example, that would result in brighter captures? Menno As a way of getting closer to expected results you are able to achieve using your settings. Your settings are generating more signal but also more noise. This is an easy thing to try. The brains sky bri...

Re: Smart Histogram always way too dark, no matter what

Hi Menno555 I think I see the disconnect between the brain suggestion and the unexpected results you are achieving. Looks like you're completing the brain sky brightness measurement without issue and the brain is suggesting the correct results based on the measurement and your input. In the brain im...

Re: All Sky Plate Solver GUI

Hi Keep in mind when solving via SharpCap via plate solve and sync command in the SharpCap mount control. This passes the the mounts current position to the solver and the solver narrows the search by X degrees around the mounts coordinates (usually x = 15 degrees.) This drastically increases the th...

Re: Comparing 3 approaches to calibrate lights using an OSC camera

I agree with 2 and 3 being clear winner with 3 having a slight advantage in the galaxy detail. I'm a total method 4 guy. I've been using SharpCap exclusively for over a year via master dark, flat and Live Stacking. The images I capture on the fly are all pretty good. I'm usually broadcasting on NSN ...
