dome control

I use Sharpcap for my sequencing needs but the Pulsar dome control is handled by NINA. I connect the mount and dome in NINA and let Sharpcap handle the sequencing ( I find it easier that way) The end of session is handled by a separate timer that closes a relay to make the Pulsar controller think it...

Re: focus position not duplicated

I wonder if in practice 0.006" difference in final position of the focuser is that critical.
The two photos attached show the positioning error between the Hitec and Ascom software when the move out and move in commands are the same.

Re: focus position not duplicated

Attached is the log for the focus driver. Don't take this as fact for the moment has I have not had chance to verify but my brother has the same focus controllers on his dual rig and I mentioned what I had found on mine and he thinks it might be the same on his N.I.N.A controlled system which also u...

Re: focus position not duplicated

The background to this relates to the focuser position drift (via the position number reported) And the fact that the 3 inch focuser is a Crayford type so I thought that slippage of the drive bar was the cause so an investment in a rack and pinion focuser was required. But before spending the money ...

Re: focus position not duplicated

Thanks for the reply Backlash compensation is turned off in Sharpcap The key thing is that the HitecFocuser software allows for fixed steps and continuous operation. Using the fix steps I count the number of ins or outs steps (say 10 in each direction)and the focuser always returns to the start posi...

focus position not duplicated

I noticed last night that each time I focused between filters that the focus position crept out and the focus was not perfect so this morning I fixed a Dial Test Indicator to the scope so I could check the position of the focuser. My focuser is a HitecAstro black unit controlling a stepper motor on ...

Re: Taking flats

Thanks for the advice. Before I read you reply I was trialling your settings 1,2 and 3 and can confirm that as long as I select the named camera profile it defaults to FITS. I do use Sharpcap in AVI and SERs capture mode so this is good. The procedure is now on my observatory "DO IT NOW" l...

Re: Taking flats

I have just spent a couple of hours looking at ways to force Sharpcap to only take FITs files and I cannot see a way to do it. Camera profiles, even though it lists FITs as the capture format starts up in SER format.
I will take another look in the software but so far I cannot see a way to do it.
