Re: Sync & ReCenter

Hi, Ok, that's good to know - the mount is reporting JNOW and SharpCap is converting to JNOW. The only reason that you would be out in that situation would be if the mount reports JNOW but is really J2000, but I think that's unlikely. The time on the mount seems OK - from the log Info 20:56:52.51877...

Re: First image won't update when capturing.

Hi folks, as far as I am aware, the problem affects a number of different models - there are various reports in the 'QHY cameras' forum on here. I don't have a list to hand unfortunately. I last updated the QHY SDK in March, adding an update published in January. If you go back to SharpCap 4.1.11961...

Re: New Feature : Support for ASCOM Cover/Calibrator devices

Hi Louis, oh, that's a pain - either the cover really is in an error state, or the ASCOM driver from Alnitak is reporting an error state for no good reason. It may be worth checking to see if the Alnitak ascom driver can record its own log information - if it can do that then maybe it would record s...

Re: SC and Focuser calibration anomaly

Hi Ken, the only reason that SharpCap would deliberately show a different value to the raw focuser value is if you have turned on backlash compensation in the SharpCap focuser settings. If that setting is turned on, SharpCap will be trying to compensate for the backlash adjustment size you have set,...

Re: FINALLY!

Hi Carl, I didn't double up the layers, but maybe in some circumstances you need to - if you can still see any detail with one layer then try a double layer. You should *not* adjust the focus for taking flats - the idea is to leave the optical configuration exactly the same for flats and lights, so ...

Re: lightning bolt and circle arrow buttons no longer work

Hi,

thanks for letting me know - there might be a bug there that the stretch appears 'on' but is off when restoring perhaps? I will investigate to see if I can find it.

cheers,

Robin

Re: First image won't update when capturing.

Hi Gene, yes, this one is annoying - it only affects some models (not any of the ones I have, so I can't even try to find a workaround). There are also technical reasons for the QHY cameras that I cannot auto switch the camera into still mode for longer exposures as I do for other brands - the probl...

Re: Finding camera

Hi, the most likely cause is that you haven't installed the ZWO System drivers which allow windows to detect the camera properly. Without those drivers, SharpCap (and other software) cannot detect the camera. Download and install the 'Camera Driver' from this page and see if that helps : https://www...

Re: FINALLY!

Hi, well done on your first image! My technique for flat frames when capturing solar images is to use translucent plastic over the front of the telescope to diffuse the light from the sun. One option is the plastic inner bag from a breakfast cereal packet, which is often translucent. Another is that...

Re: Sync & ReCenter

Hi, the amount of the error sounds consistent with J2000 co-ordinates being sent to the mount when actually it works in JNOW co-ordinates. SharpCap asks the mount which co-ordinate system it uses, but some ASCOM drivers report the wrong setting. This can lead to SharpCap not applying the required co...
