Re: Can Live Stack Work With Short Exposures?

Hi Zubenelgenubi The best way to achieve this is not aligning frames. Since you're shooting in 2-4 seconds the stacking algorithm will not detect the stars needed to align the frames. Once you start Live Stacking in the lower right uncheck Align Frames (see image below) this will still stack and sho...

Piggyback Live Stacking July 13-15 2020

Hi All, I've been meaning to give this a try for several months and have finally been able to pull it off. Piggybacked my 70 mm on top of the RC 6 along with a 50 mm guider. This is a great solution If like me you're doing a lot of live stacking of different type objects that require wide and narrow...

Re: Comet NEOWISE

I've missed out so far while it was visible in early AM and now since it's moved to being visible in the evening. Unfortunately the tree line at my observing locations are too high. Don broadcast on NSN last night (7/15/20) and was able to show C/2020 F3 NEOWISE for well over an hour via SharpCap! W...

Re: AsteroTortilla Problems

Hi Smithn00 I've been a long time user of Astrotortilla and once working it works fine. Seeing as you're having trouble with the cygwin subsystem may I suggest you give ASTAP a try. Very easy install and configuration. I also found it to be way faster in plate solving. Check it out here: https://www...

Re: Save file to AVI

Hi

AVI format is 8 bit only. If your camera is capturing above 8 bits SharpCap will not be able to save in AVI format. Make sure your bit depth is set correctly

Re: NGC7000 IC5070 7-1-2020

Thanks for the kind words guys. Normally I install the filter behind the reducer. This is a 2 inch screw in type and I'm always hesitant to hang the weight of the camera on the thin threads of the filter. I know filter drawers are available but I like to keep everything as simple as possible. -Chris

NGC7000 IC5070 7-1-2020

Hi All, Stuck at home trying to image between the clouds and the trees. More or less look straight up from my back yard. Had to wait till after 4 AM until the North American and Pelican had cleared the trees. This image captured in SC Live Stack and cleaned up in Photoshop. Equipment: Stellarvue SV7...

Re: light pollution filter vs. no filter

Heya

I've been using 294 for a while now in Bortle 5-6 skies and wouldn't go without the LPS filter. I've had good results with the IDAS D1. Without the LPS light gradients are very evident. You can check out some of my images in the gallery forum.

Re: Effect of L-eNhance Filter -- M27

@donstim The 50/50 is default for all ZWO camera (may apply to other brands also) using the native driver. Red 52 and Blue 95 would be meaningless to you unless you are using the same exact scope, filters and have the same sky brightness (light pollution) as Menno555. I suggest not changing the 50/5...
