Color Balance

Hi, Generally, I'm capturing with RAW16 into FITs files (ZWO ASI017 OSC) and usually try and get the color balance approximately neutral with the color controls. At least one other well known imaging capture program doesn't even have a debayer option, and I guess consequentially no color balance con...

Re: SharpCap 3.2 crashes on startup

Hi Robin, I upgraded to version 3.2.5936.0, but the problem is still there. However, when I install the new 64 bit version 3.2.5936.0-64bit, the problem disappears, so that seems to be the fix for me. I'm not using any of the cameras that are not implemented in the 64 bit version. Odd that no one el...

Re: Another Offset Question

Hi Dave and Robin, I've been running a few more experiments which may or may not be of interest. I appreciate the time you both have given my questions and I've certainly satisfied my curiosity about why you need to increase offset with gain , at least assuming you always want the least offset possi...

To progress this, as requested previously above, please make available somewhere a bias frame which has the histogram banging into the LHS in FITS Liberator and the corresponding SharpCap histogram CSV file (posted ~Dec 23).

Dave
Ok thanks. I'll do that soon.

Re: Another Offset Question

Steve Well, as it happens, I do have that option checked since It needs to be unchecked unless you are doing astrometry. Have a look at this thread https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1108 where I describe the use of the batch processing facility in ImageJ to resolve (thanks to @oopfan fo...

Re: Another Offset Question

Thanks Robin, That's a great explanation - I think I really get it now. Being a bit of a geek, I really feel I need to understand the underlying mechanism. To that end, I've been running a few experiments here. These are all graphs made from the histogram SharpCap outputs. All are 1ms darks. The fir...

Re: Another Offset Question

Thanks for that Robin - you did far more than you should have given your current medical condition. Steve - in File > SharpCap Settings > General Tab , what is the state of Save 10/12/14 bit images in FITS files without stretching to 16-bit ? If this is checked, then it needs unchecking for normal ...
