Re: feature tracking - planetary - feedbacks?
Hi Mike, what happens with the barlow if you use a slower movement rate for calibration (perhaps even down to the guiding rate?) That should cancel out some of the effect of the barlow in making the object move faster/further. I have a request already on another thread about the meridian flip - goin...

Re: Sharpcap and Stellarium
Hi, that does sound like excellent customer service! Certainly crayford focusers can be troublesome - they fix the backlash so often associated with rack-and-pinion mechanisms, but the problem it can be difficult finding the right compromise between not slipping and tight enough not to rock. I remem...

Re: 294C Pro recognized as Mono
Hi Brian, have you updated your QHY system drivers recently by downloading and installing the QHY 'all in one' package? I have the QHY 294 PROC here and it seems to recognise fine with the latest SharpCap, so I am just wondering if your drivers are out-of-date. Note that I personally do not recommen...

Re: Windows 11
Hi, try out some of the steps in USB troubleshooting list (link above in the orange box) to see if it is a problem with the camera communicating with the new laptop. The latest versions of SharpCap also try to use graphics card acceleration to speed up things - this means that if you are having issu...

Re: Sharpcap Attempts to Auto-Connect to Hardware
Hi Farzad,
yes, on the 'Hardware' page of the settings you can tell it not to try to auto-connect to ASCOM hardware when the camera is opened.
See https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Hardware%20Tab
cheers,
Robin

Re: SharpCap and All Sky Plate Solver
Hi Dave, essentially the main use of plate solving in SharpCap is to reposition the mount in one way or another to get the right target in view. The case for plate solving image files is much less obvious, since even if you do get correct plate solve information on a loaded image file, what do you t...

Re: Live stacking one files
Hi, a lot of complex decisions here... Your minimum exposure is controlled by the read noise of the camera - the SharpCap smart histogram will help work out what that value is for your camera. Unless you have a lot of light pollution then 4-5s may be too short and may be hurting you both in terms of...

Re: Live stacking one files
Hi, it depends on what exposure you are using the camera at... If you are using 5s exposures then you will be stacking 12 frames in each 1 minute, and that's kind of OK, but unusual If you are using 1 minute exposures then you are only putting 1 frame into each stack in SharpCap, which is not the wa...

Oh yes, the saved calibration is in the registry, so a bit harder to tinker with. If you really want to have a go, you will find it at

Re: Feature Tracking Tool
Hi Mike, glad to hear that you had success with the feature tracking - as I have mentioned before it is an odd feature because it can be so hard to get it working sometimes (usually related to mount backlash issues), but when it does work it is rather handy :) The meridian flip is going to give a ro...
