Hi,
that's a really impressive signal - clearly a significant one in spite of being only 0.2 magnitudes. Well done!

Re: Fits Icons???
Hi Dale, the trick to fix this is to right-click on the file, then choose 'open with' from the menu. Then choose 'Choose Another App'. This should bring up a window to let you choose which app to use to open FITS files, with a tick box at the bottom to make it the default. Hopefully once you have do...

Re: Weird histogram with QHY268M
Hi, yes, no dark subtraction or background removal or similar there. Some things to check though to see if they might be causing it 1) Read mode : Photographic DSO - perhaps other read modes behave more normally 2) Brightness/Contrast/Gamma - I think the settings you have are default and fine, but n...

Re: Stacking centered on comet nucleus
Hi Jean-Francois,
glad that you had some success - do you have any of the individual frames (4 or 5 would do) from the ones that failed to align? I can test them to see if I can work out if anything can be improved.
cheers,
Robin

Re: how do I change slew rates ?
Hi,
yes, the older versions like SharpCap 3.2 would have the 8x speed missing, since they date from before the change. Lots of good new things in 4.0 and even more coming soon in 4.1
cheers,
Robin

Re: C/2022 E3 ZTF - ASI678MC - Not getting color
Hi,
just to confirm that as long as you have the latest SharpCap 4 (or 4.1) version, then it should support the ASI678. Support for that camera has been in versions of SharpCap released since about the end of July 2022.
cheers,
Robin

Re: how do I change slew rates ?
Hi,
I think you might be using quite an old version of SharpCap - the code used to ignore the 8x rate, but I fixed that in about October 2021. I would suggest visiting the downloads page and grabbing the latest version - https://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/downloads
cheers,
Robin

Re: Weird histogram with QHY268M
Hi, do you have the 'capturesettings.txt' files that SharpCap saved next to the images? Those record all the camera settings that you used when capturing, and I suspect will contain the answer to this mystery. The two things that come to mind are * what offset value did you set in SharpCap * were yo...

Re: Stacking centered on comet nucleus
Hi, stacking in comet mode does not de-rotate the image, so you will need to track on an EQ mount (or with a wedge) rather than ALtAz. The reason for this is that the comet stacking uses just a single point to align (the nucleus of the comet), so cannot work out a rotation for it. I'm afraid I hadn'...
