Re: Plate solve error with new driver Ioptron CEM120

Hi, can you please confirm if you have * Installed the very latest ASCOM Platform * Installed the very latest ASCOM drivers for Ioptron * Tested to see if using the 'ASCOM Device Hub' workaround fixes things for you Also, it may be worth testing SharpCap 4.1 beta (download links in the Beta Testing ...

Re: Capture area different than image size

Hi,

try the latest update to SharpCap 4.0 (which is now on the downloads page, but not yet available by auto-update). I think it should resolve the issue.

thanks,

Robin

Re: RA/Dec marker over solved image

Hi, have you tried the 'Deep Sky Image Annotation' tool? This will display markers on the image showing the locations of objects in SharpCap's deep sky database after plate solving. You can also create custom databases if the objects you are looking for are not in the default databases. See this thr...

Re: SharpCap 4.1 Beta Update - 4th January 2023

Hi, I have a fix now for the next update, but to avoid compiling, you can download the binaries here : https://www.nuget.org/packages/ASCOM.Com.Components Click on the 'Download Package' link on the right, rename the .nupkg file to .zip and then fish out the DLLs that you need from the zip. Should w...

Re: 4.1 bugs

Hi, that was exactly what I decided - I put the effort into getting the logging done in a useful way in future versions rather than picking apart the old log files. In fact, if you download and install yesterday's beta build, you will find that it puts something like this into the guiding log after ...

Re: SharpCap 4.1 Beta Update - 4th January 2023

Hi Jean-Francois, I think this one is because SharpCap 4.1 now uses the ASCOM portable libraries rather than directly talking to the ASCOM platform (https://github.com/ASCOMInitiative/ASCOMLibrary) . The correct call now would be clr.AddReference("ASCOM.Com") however, that will not current...

Re: SharpCap 4.1 Beta Update - 28th December 2022

Hi Jean-Francois,

good spot - I had not seen that. I will investigate bringing that in to SharpCap in the near future, so be ready to update your scripts to Python3 :D

cheers,

Robin

Re: 4.1 bugs

Hi, the tracking image in SharpCap should match the setting on the ASCOM driver - SharpCap polls the rate regularly and updates the image as appropriate. Anyway, as you say, the difference isn't significant. I am hoping to get a new update out in a few days time - missed out on this Monday what with...

Re: in praise of Sharpcap

Hi, thanks for the appreciation :) I must be honest though and tell you that the old camera probably implements the 'USB Video Class' protocol, which is a standard for webcams that means they can work without needing a special driver (Windows includes a USB Video Class driver written by Microsoft). ...
