Re: Where is Custom Capture Area for ASI294MM?
Hi Robin. Thanks for today's SharpCap update. I installed V.4.0.9381 and found the option to "Ignore small pixel mode on the ASI294MM" under File/Settings/Hardware . Unfortunately, when I check it or indeed any of the camera settings, then click "Apply" and "OK" these s...

Re: Future Versions of Sharpcap
I am certainly impressed with the manual as it is, and think that David has underestimated the cost of producing it commercially - he and Robin should add taxes, social security payments, overheads etc. And I doubt that Robin has "another staff member" that he can put on it, or that it is ...

Re: Future Versions of Sharpcap
Other people could help with documentation, as David Richards and Toshihito Watanabe already have. In fact, users might be better at seeing what needs more explanation. I could imagine assigning web-based chapters to particular users, with Robin correcting where necessary. A complete reference manua...

Re: Future Versions of Sharpcap
I agree with Calan :) I only use documentation when I have a problem, and even then, I first Google for mentions of similar problems, and experiment to find a solution. If searching fails, I post my problem on the forum, and usually get helpful suggestions, and often solutions. The user interface is...

Re: Where is Custom Capture Area for ASI294MM?
Thanks Robin. I will look into using a capture profile. In my application, the ROI is constant, and it would be good to be able to define that within the complete FOV, with size and offsets, once and for all.

Re: Where is Custom Capture Area for ASI294MM?
So how do I delete Custom Capture Areas when they can be set - eg for the ASI174MM ? With ASICap the equivalent Custom "Resolution" (badly named) dialogue allows me to delete Areas as well as add them. Even resetting SharpCap parameters didn't remove my Custom Capture Areas. I suppose they...

Re: A brief introduction to the SharpCap Sequencer
Sequencer is ideal for launching an external Visual Basic (or other) motor script between individual frames, and although there are lots of commands, it is easy to understand. Now I'm looking how to do it the other way around - launching SharpCap with parmeters from a script. I saw some references t...

Re: Where is Custom Capture Area for ASI294MM?
Robin, an option to turn off 47M pixel mode would be great. BTW, I was perhaps a little too dismissive of small pixels - I understand they are useful for planetary imaging, and Ch. Buil in his review of the ASI294MM likes them because he can then do median filtering to reduce isolated noisy pixels b...

Re: Where is Custom Capture Area for ASI294MM?
Thanks Robin, I understand that. The 11M mode with 14-bits is the most interesting, and what was originally intended by Sony. The 47M mode was apparently unlocked "because it was there", but with tiny pixels at 12-bits it is not interesting for low-light imaging IMHO. Cheers, Alan.
