M52 / NGC7635 Bubble Nebula / NGC7538 Northern Lagoon
Well finally had a clear night I was beginning to think it would never happen. So had a session imaging from 22:15 to 03:15 and finally got to try out the new mount and 6nm astronomik filters. Still tweaking the PHD2 settings but the guiding stayed under a total error of 0.38 all night so pleased wi...

Re: Why do we need dark frames?
Hi Dave, Good write up the only thing I would add is even with a more expensive thermally controlled camera you would still need to build a dark library the plus side is that you only need to do it once for the exposures / gain you plan on using as afterwards you have a constant reference temperatur...

Re: I can't find a stacked image of M27 in my Fits Lib. File
Are you saving a fits or a PNG stacked image as the original header was for a PNG image and I think FITS Lib only loads fits files so if the Stacked image is indeed a PNG you must be loading one of the individual subs if viewing in FITS Lib. IF this is the case then these would be unadjusted and as ...

Re: Western Veil (did not go well!)
Hi Dave, Been there done that, you get some nights were you sit there thinking I wont touch anything else as I will probably break it. In some ways I tend to learn more on nights were everything goes wrong as I have to get a better understanding as to why. On the plus side it is definitely getting d...

Re: Messier 27: A SharpCap-PixInsight Combination
Thanks for that Bruce as I was already leaning towards it as a filter, as I am looking at an ASI071 colour possibly but am hanging fire for a bit as there are rumours of some new ZWO cameras.

Re: Messier 27: A SharpCap-PixInsight Combination
Nice image, longer term I am considering a second camera and am planning on looking at a colour one, how are you finding the optolong filter as I was seriously considering it as an option at the same time.

Re: Filter Number in FITS header
Not sure if it can be added in the header but you can add it to the filename automatically and create a new folder for each filter.

Re: Livestack image subfolder naming
Hi Robin,
That works fine were as originally I was clearing then hitting pause, now I pause refocus like suggested then hit clear that clears the image then resumes on its own and generates the folder as expected thanks for the help.
