Re: Saving as a Video

Terry looks like these days you can only download about forty frames I split a SER file into 501 FITS files using PIPP, then loaded and combined the 501 individual files into a SER file using PIPP x64 ver 2.5.9. I have never come across a 40 limit - maybe PIPP 32-bit? Capture.JPG There is no need fo...

Re: Aristoteles & Eudoxus 2-panel mosaic

Tim An interesting link which brings out some conflicting advice (as usual with this type of thread). I have done OK with the Celestron C8 SCT. According to the Astronomy Tools CCD Suitability Calculator the C8 with my cameras leads to slight over-sampling which becomes worse with the addition of th...

Good to hear you have sorted out your problem. Systematic capturing of calibration frames and an understanding of the histogram are big steps in producing decent images.

Re: Tips needed for imaging the 2024 solar eclipse

I purchased the book linked to in post #14 - a very useful read. Having thought about a project like this, a few things come to mind: Moving location, maybe a different latitude would alter the mount elevation. Tracking, polar alignment during the day. Take all the gear to some location other than t...

Solar Eclipse Resources

Below are links gathered on my internet travels which might help those preparing to image a solar eclipse. Sky & Telescope 2024 Eclipse Guide https://shopatsky.com/products/2024-eclipse-guide price $11.99, 64-page. The link is for the US shop, within the web page is a link for non-US purchase. E...

See
viewtopic.php?t=7382. I have been re-processing lunar images with waveSharp. As always with new software, a time investment is needed to get the best out of it.

That turned out very well with the VX12 particularly given the conditions. It would be interesting to see what lunar images this scope can produce.

I found this APOD https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap101222.html of the object.
