Re: Green predominance
To add to Robin's response, I tested some light pollution filters that selectively interfere with certain "offensive" wavelengths, in order to see if there was a filter that could mitigate the green cast and render a more neutral white balance during acquisition. Although my findings are n...

FWHM in filename
Dear Robin, Live Stack mode can measure (and filter) the FWHM in each frame. You can see those values under the alignment and FWHM tabs. If it were possible to write that value in the filenaming nomenclature, amongst other uses, one could for example place the FWHM value first in the filename and th...

Re: Increase Dither Maximum Settle Time
Thanks, much obliged!
I hope 120 seconds is sufficient, I'll give you feedback as I suspect there might be mounts that need even longer. Might be worth giving it a much higher ceiling, but I'll report back on how I get on with it.
Best,
Minos

Increase Dither Maximum Settle Time
Dear Robin, During Live Stacking, I employ aggressive dithers that when coupled with my badly backlashed mount, some dithers can require longer than 60 seconds (the limit) to settle to acceptable, non-trailing thresholds. This means that sometimes the subsequent individual saved frame has a chance o...

Re: ASI1600MM-P BIN mode and Bit depth
That's very kind of you my friend, thank you. I'll go to CCTS tomorrow here in Stony Brook and pick one up. I'm good friends with Jeff the owner and actually my first job when I came to the states two years ago was at his telescope store for six months, until I got my appointment at SBU. I will purc...

Re: ASI1600MM-P BIN mode and Bit depth
Looks like I have to wait for clear skies to test this, as I don't have enough backtravel on my focuser to get the artificial star in focus in my small apartment. Perhaps in the meantime, someone who has this camera can chip in their understanding on binning and bit depth? Hopefully be able to answe...

Re: ASI1600MM-P BIN mode and Bit depth
Brian, that's a good idea, thank you. Couple of questions of clarification. When you say set the stars max pixel value to xxxx, is this something in Astroimagej? Sorry, I'm not familiar with it. Considering we are clouded out for the next week and I might not get a chance, would conducting this test...

Re: ASI1600MM-P BIN mode and Bit depth
Minos, I would recommend going to the sensor manufacturer's datasheet. I would imagine that it is Sony. Chip manufacturers are in the business of selling their products to professional electronics engineers around the world. Their command of the English language is much better than what you get fro...
