Re: Eclipse sequence - Dark, even, horizontal banding on the really short exposures

Hi Bill, that's very regular and not the same as the more random banding that 'banding suppression' was designed to help cure. It's also clearly visible in an unstretched image which is not typical either. It certainly looks like the banding you would get from artificial lights, but a daylight scene...

Re: SharpCap Script Stops Writing SER File

Hi, interesting... As you say there are no errors recorded, which actually limits potential causes quite a bit because most things would result in an error or warning in the log. The sequencer asks for a capture of 10 frames which doesn't complete, so from that we know that no frames were received f...

Re: Meridian Flip from West to East

Hi Eric, yes, I implemented changes to deal with the possibility of a flip from west to east through north under the pole. This is also accounted for in the 'time to meridian' info in the extended target list too. I've only tested this in simulation, since the neighbours trees block out anything low...

Re: Annotation list

Hi,

it's even in the user manual as well ;)

https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#Custom ... %20Objects

(although that doesn't include the link to extra catalog files)

cheers,

Robin

Re: Sky watcher hand control pannel always goes east

Hi, the mystery deepens... Actually, the movement speeds being different is OK - SharpCap has its own list of preferred movement rates that it will try to use if the mount supports them, and they include value that are roughly 1,2,3 and 4 degrees per second. However, due to the way the maths works o...

Re: sharpcap eclipse settings

Hi, I suspect you have a combination of up to 3 problems 1) Camera settings have too short an exposure/too low gain, so the image is dark 2) Focus position may be quite different for camera compared to eyepiece, so may be badly out of focus 3) The area you see through the camera will be much smaller...

Re: How do I get a target after achieveing Polar Alignment

Hi, yes, it does certainly sound as though once you have done the polar alignment the mount control software (GSS) is confused about the position that the telescope is pointing to. The software can only really measure *relative* movements of the mount , so if its initial data on the absolute positio...

Re: Sky watcher hand control pannel always goes east

Hi, the trick to working out the cause is to try different tests to see how extensive the problem is - for example... * Try another application that can also control the ASCOM driver for the mount and see if that has the same problem - if it does then the problem is somewhere in the ASCOM driver rat...

Re: Eclipse sequence - Dark, even, horizontal banding on the really short exposures

Hi Bill, you are correct that unexpected banding is most likely related to the camera being a progressive scan camera. There are typically two main causes in my experience 1) Artificial light sources that flicker at 50/60hz - shouldn't be relevant in your case as you were using the sun as illuminati...

Re: Alnitak Flip-Flat

Hi, just to give an update - I have borrowed a motorized flat panel from my friends at Altair Astro and have made some good progress on implementing the code required in SharpCap to control the panel and use it automatically in certain actions (create flat, etc). This should all work for any motoriz...
