Re: Feature Tracking Tool
Hi Mike, glad to hear that you had success with the feature tracking - as I have mentioned before it is an odd feature because it can be so hard to get it working sometimes (usually related to mount backlash issues), but when it does work it is rather handy :) The meridian flip is going to give a ro...

Re: 1st Time System Freeze w/Win 10 Laptop
Hi, yes, that log file is just SharpCap recording what background gradient it discovered in the most recent frame. The next thing SharpCap would do would be to actually subtract out the background - that certainly shouldn't cause a whole system crash. In general, if Windows itself locks up or blue s...

Re: Do I need additional star catalog databases?
Hi Michael, yes, to do plate solving across the whole sky to get the camera/telescope pointing spot on you will need to install an additional plate solving application *and* the star database that it uses. Recently I have been suggesting either Astap or Ansvr. Ansvr uses the same plate solving engin...

Re: SVBONY 405CC Dark Frames
Hi, thanks for the extensive testing and sharing the files. I can see what you mean - the ones that are black are *really* perfect black - or almost perfect... There are a few non-zero pixels in those files, but 99.999% of the pixels are zero brightness. Both 4.0.9152 and 9208 contain the current la...

Re: SVBONY 405CC Dark Frames
Hmmm, definitely odd. Can you share a single dark frame (not a master) in FITS format captured at the settings that you normally use please. The file will be too big to upload here, so the best thing to do is to upload to OneDrive/GoogleDrive/DropBox/etc and share by posting a link here. A follow on...

Re: SVBONY 405CC
Hi, my first guess is that the NINA image is strongly stretched (it would need to be to see the horizontal banding that is typically at a very low level in images), whereas the SharpCap ones don't seem to be. What do you see in SharpCap if you auto-stretch the display using the lightning flash 'auto...

Re: Dropped frames with ASI585MC longer exposures
Hi folks,
please check that you are using the very latest version of SharpCap (4.0.9208 or newer) - in that version I have included a new update to the ZWO SDK, and it's just possible that the update will resolve this issue.
cheers,
Robin

Re: DSS problem with flat files made by Sharpcap
Hi, yes, that's the right way to do it - if you are doing that you should also use the 'Subtract dark' option that is next to it with your master dark file - that way SharpCap handles both the dark and flat correction before adding the frame to the stack and you have no need to use darks/flats in DS...

Re: NEWBEE - For EAA - could someone suggest steps to follow?
Hi, not my video, but fortunately plenty of people make them and do a very good job of it :) The graph that is being referred to is the read noise vs gain graph for the camera - SharpCap can produce these by doing a sensor analysis of your camera, or you will probably find them on the manufacturer's...
