My Messier Journey So Far

Next month on June 18 will mark the two year anniversary of my first image captured in astronomy. Back in the early days I used DSLR, BYEOS and a 70 mm Stellarvue APO. This was a great combo to get started with and still use it to this day. Since then I've moved to RC6 along with the ASI294. The mov...

Re: SharpCap Plate Solving/Celestron Evolution and Sky Safari

Check epoch settings in the mount and Sky Safari. This needs to be same for both. Example if your mount is J2000 then Sky Safari needs to use J2000.

Re: PC won't recognise ASI120MC?

I've seen this issue in the past on some of my computers. This was due to the camera being plugged into USB 3. When I plugged the camera into USB 2 it worked fine. Just to complicate this, on a different computer the camera works fine on USB 3. This camera has been around since 2012 and I think some...

Re: Seonsor Analysis wont finish on QHY183C

What are you using as a light source? I've used LED tracing panel successfully for sensor analysis. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M26S3VY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Used this panel along with a T-shirt to defuse the light to create flats. Use the panel on lowest brig...

Re: Seonsor Analysis wont finish on QHY183C

Not sure if this is relevant but I notice you are using ROI and then using the selection tool. This makes the amount of pixels inside the selection area very small. Try using the camera full resolution and then use the selection tool.

Re: 183C live stacking issue

Your initial post you mention that Altair thinks this to be a software issue. Obviously in this case you're using SharpCap but have you tried Altair's own capture software? It would be interesting to see the results using AltairCapture http://cameras.altairastro.com/ If you get similar results this ...

Click to Slew

This feature suggestion got me thinking "Identification using plate solving" https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1617 With SharpCap able to interact with astrometry.net via a plate solver could we at some point be able to click inside an image and slew the mount mount to...

Re: Identification using plate solving

Didn't even see who posted this and just gave the option of astrometry.net I think what your asking is a way to show astrometry.net annotations on on the SharpCap display. That would definitely be an awesome feature.
