Re: Livestacking with a C11?
John Try the site http://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/ . Selecting an object (via Messier, NGC or IC), Telescope, Camera and Barlow/Reducer will allow you to make informed decisions about what can be captured by a particular combination of equipment. M51 = OK, M42 = not so good. Dave As...

Re: Imaging Jupiter
Bob I think you are getting there. I know what you mean about the skies, I had the weather problem the other night in the UK at 53°N. Gave up on the 2x Barlow and ended up with https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=7217 . Remember for Jupiter: set gain to 70 (or 80) with a barlow, 60 without...

Re: Excessive Star Glow
brenski I have a couple of Super-Takumar lenses and have managed to get them working with a Canon 7d Mk2 and an Altair 183C (fan cooled). See https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=35432#p35432 post #42. The optical train for the above is: Super-Takumar 135mm f3.5 M42 lens + M42 to EOS adapte...

Re: SUN2023/11/25
Thanks Peter. Any info on exposure, gain, number of frames and post processing would be helpful for anyone venturing into solar work.

Bob
Much better than your original image. See how it looks when the moon is not about.

Saturn & Jupiter with bad 'seeing'
Captured 24th November 2023 with a 97% waxing moon located close to Jupiter. Saturn was heading towards the murky skies above Manchester. The planet disks were very unstable and with a 2X Barlow looked like they were being beaten with a hammer. The poor atmospheric conditions I later tracked down to...

Menno
Managing to capture the outer shell on M57 is quite an achievement in my book. Interesting observation that processing the data again after 2 years gives a big improvement. I have found that processing knowledge/skills do evolve over time.

In the AS3 log file, line 80 says "_stack_frames_percentage_1 20"
I think and the log reports that I have stacked 20% of the frames.

Re: Imaging Jupiter
Bob Glad you have the colour issue sorted now. By doing nothing with the defaults a TIF file will be saved from Autostaakert. As to quality, this is worth a read https://www.astrokraai.nl/software/Sky%20&%20Telescope%20-%20September%202016%20%5B68%20-%2072%5D.pdf . In this document, written by E...
