Re: Polar Align - Auto-rotation of RA axis

Hi, I presume that normal buttons work when you use the iPad for remote connection, yes? How about the 'press and hold' buttons for moving the mount in the four directions? The mount ones work a bit differently from the polar alignment ones, so if one works and the other doesn't then I could change ...

Re: Focusing

Hi Geoff, The selection square shouldn't drift while you are focus scanning, but the image could drift depending on the type of telescope and focuser that you have. SCT telescopes are notorious for 'mirror shift' when the focus is adjusted meaning that will move on screen depending on the direction ...

Re: Question FWHM in Livestacking Status tab

Hi,

yes, it's in pixels - SharpCap rarely works in arc seconds, since that requires accurate knowledge of the focal length of the telescope, which often isn't available.

cheers,

Robin

Re: Weird behavior SC 4.1.11824

Hi Chris, a good question, and at the moment the 'good guiding' is determined by having guiding throughout the whole frame. I should probably adapt that, since the sequencer does a better job when capturing frames with guiding (uses a 5% threshold). On the other hand, the use case for capturing with...

Re: Solar Mosaic - Feedback

Hi Geoff, thanks for the positive feedback - good to hear that it worked nicely for you :) The best I can suggest for the naming for now is to deal with it via using filter names in the filename. Even if you are not using a real ASCOM filter wheel, you can set up SharpCap with a 'Manual Filter Wheel...

Re: Version 4.1 plate solving issues

Hi Trev, it shouldn't matter how you did the upgrade - the settings copy happens the first time you run SharpCap 4.1, not as part of the upgrade install. I thought that it was pretty much 'bomb proof', but difficult to be sure 100%. If you could find the first SharpCap log from running 4.1 for the v...

Re: QHY GPS Updates in 4.1.12174

Hi,

just to confirm that the GPS data extraction from the in SharpCap frame is performed first, before any image processing, so the fact that image processing may change the data (or the timestamp overwrite it) is not going to be an issue.

cheers,

Robin

Re: Issue with 64bit Version (Crash after starting the Program)

Hi Stefan, this is a tricky one now, since we have already determined that something is corrupting memory not long after SharpCap starts, and that corruption is eventually killing SharpCap (but only the 64 bit version). Since it is not an issue that is happening widely, it's going to be something sp...

Re: New Feature : Support for ASCOM Cover/Calibrator devices

Hi Louis, I have seen a couple of uploaded bug reports that might have been you - they match your description that the cover has reported an error state. Those reports were from SharpCap 4.1.12128. The newer version - 4.1.12174 will still report the error state to the user, but no longer makes it a ...

Re: Weird behavior SC 4.1.11824

Hi, yes, PHD may be running, but without live stacking turned on, SharpCap doesn't connect to PHD, so it only *knows* that PHD is running once live stacking is activated and the connection to PHD has succeeded. The old code for monitoring PHD in 4.0 was a bit horrible - if PHD was guiding OK at the ...
