Re: How do I use the focussing assistant?
Hi, you should see buttons to start a scan in either direction (now labelled positive and negative I think) in the top right corner of the focus graph area as shown here https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#(Nearly)%20Automatic%20Focusing Note that these buttons only show when SharpCap has been configur...

Re: Exploring the API
Hi Louis, one thing to note is that this only works when the thing to the left of the dot is actually a valid object. So, for example, if you type SharpCap.SelectedCamera. You should see a list of things that you can do with the selected camera - providing a camera is actually open at the time. If n...

Re: ToupTek SkyEye62AM - Sony IMX455 Sensor v4 - settings
Hi Peter, the thing that I think is missing in your analysis of whether to use LCG or HCG is a consideration of the effect that the different read noise values on sub-exposure lengths... If you pick gain 100 in LCG and compare to gain 100 in HCG (both with low noise option), the read noise values ar...

Re: Timestamp and subframe size
Hi Javier, for the majority of cameras, SharpCap bases the timestamps off of the time that it receives the frame data from the camera SDK - that gives the value used for the end of frame timestamp and the start of frame timestamp is calculated by simply subtracting the known exposure from the end of...

Re: eclipse settings
Hi, the simplest way to do this would be to use the 'Start Capture' button in SharpCap and then use the 'Simple Sequence' option at the bottom. Choose the following settings in the start capture window * Single frame capture selected * Perform a sequence of captures ticked * Sequence length 90 - for...

Re: QHY600m Drop Packets when Gain 160 during Sensor Analysis
Hi Sean, regarding the custom measurement points, that can be achieved via the Python scripting console, using the command SharpCap.SelectedCamera.SetGainsOfInterestForSensorAnalysis([26,27,56,57]) Run that command after opening the camera but before running the analysis and the analysis will includ...

Re: Direction control button switches off tracking
Hi, I have made some updates to those movement buttons recently, and at one point those updates led to some issues, so it may be worth updating to the newest version of SharpCap from the downloads page to see if that helps resolve at least some of the issues you are seeing. You should just be able t...

Re: Webcam with exposure longer than 1s?
Hi, I'm not 100% convinced about the long exposures on the Microsoft webcams... Although the cameras will let you set the exposure manually up to some reasonable levels (my current Lifecam Studio accepts up to 1s exposure), the camera still updates the image much more rapidly than once per second. M...

Re: Repair - Uninstall When Updating this Week
Hi, usually I would expect to see that choice about uninstall or repair if the version of SharpCap is already installed, so that would be my first guess. The uninstall does not remove settings/profiles/etc, so you are safe to uninstall/reinstall/repair without needing to worry about that. cheers, Ro...

Re: DSO Mosaic Planning /Live Stack Mosaics
Hi Geoff, thanks for the suggestions on how it might work and for producing a mockup. I must admit that I hadn't even got as far as thinking of how the results would be displayed - more stuck on how the user might specify the area to include in the mosaic. Fortunately plate solving will let SharpCap...
