Re: Cpwi issue

Hi, it could certainly be the slew rates thing, since the lower rates are very slow and it might not be immediately noticeable that the mount was moving. Also, I'm not clear which controller it is that is not working? The physical hand controller? The on-screen virtual controller from CPWI or the di...

Re: CFA or not CFA that is the question ...

Hi David, this is a SharpCap issue - I write out TIFF images using OpenCV, and there is no way to specify metadata when doing the writing. For a long time that was the whole of the story, then I was persuaded to add support for 'AstroTiff' to the Tiff files (see https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtop...

Re: Issues with AA269C Pro and recent versions of Sharpcap

Hi, this is an issue with the Altair SDK that is in the current version of SharpCap 4.0 - for the 269C in 12 bit mode you get the very odd (slightly trippy) image just like the one you shared. I have recently received an updated SDK from Altair that fixes the issue, this is available in SharpCap 4.1...

Re: ...interpret sensor analysis results

Hi Gottfried, excellent images - glad that things are starting to work well for you :) In Live Stacking, there is an option to set which raw frames are saved which lets you choose to ignore the short frames during dithering. For saving raw frames you can choose to save * None * All * Those added to ...

Re: M51 Image - Not sure what am i doing wrong in my settings

Hi, yes, a nice M51 for such a short exposure - good work :) I would suggest looking at dark subtraction and slightly longer exposures (15s to 30s) as the next steps. 5s is quite short for the long focal length of an SCT, and dark frame might help reduce the slightly grainy look to the background th...

Re: Saving a TIFF in CFA mode

Hi David, depends where you save from in SharpCap... Save from the 'Snapshot' button (or 'Start Capture') on the toolbar will get you a single plane image with CFA matrix providing you are in 'RAW8' or 'RAW16' modes (if your camera is in RGB mode then you will get 3 plane RGB). Saving from live stac...

Re: Strange screen frame in RAW12

Hi, fortunately this is an easy one - there was a bug in the Altair SDK causing this rather trippy image to come out of the 269C camera in 12 bit mode. That bug is now fixed, and if you update to the latest version of SharpCap 4.1 beta, everything should work. Note that there is not yet a version of...

Re: Live Stacking Not Working

Hi Peter, unfortunately the link that you have shared doesn't seem to work (it says 'Access Denied' - I think it is the sort of link that only works for specific people, rather than one that works for anyone). My guess is that you have maybe adjusted some of the alignment settings (for instance turn...

Re: PC stick for Sharpcap pro

Hi Kie, what camera resolution do you intend using? It would almost certainly be fine for 1280x1024, and almost certainly not be any good for 6000x4000 pixels... In between, it will depend on how long the frames are (how long does the CPU have to do the alignment/stacking work) and whether you inten...

Re: iOptron GEM45 display error

Hi Ralf, yes, this is an odd one - no good reason for it to happen, but it does in SharpCap 4.0 (and started happening with an iOptron update...) Two ways to work around * Use SharpCap 4.1 beta - this uses a different way of talking to ASCOM that is unaffected by the issue * Use the ASCOM Device Hub...
