Re: Plate Solving conundrum

It seems that Avast was the issue. I uninstalled it - what a pain - the "normal" uninstall apparently doesn't remove it all, and so one has to run a special program with windows in safe mode.

But plate solving is now back.

Thanks for all your work

Plate Solving conundrum

Robin: Up until today plate solving has always worked for me. But today I installed the new non-beta 3.2 and now have run into problems. When I go to plate solve, the system fails and I get the error message as shown in the attached jpeg. I've also enclosed a copy of the log from the session. I trie...

Re: Ascom driver for Nikon & Canon cameras

Last questions.

Do you use in live view mode? I did not, so the image refreshes every x seconds.

Is live stacking enabled? I was only able to test inside. And weather Is uncooperative of late. Will become more so today - new scope being delivered!

Great stuff

Re: Ascom driver for Nikon & Canon cameras

Robin

quite good. I got it to work - one crash report was created and i sent along - but after that, no issue. I have a Canon T1i.

One point - my saved images are coming up in greyscale, although the "live" image in SC is in color. What to do ?

Re: Dealing with light pollution

The CCD version cuts off the IR end of the spectrum at 700 nm, the non-CCD goes much farther. So you'll capture more energy, especially from galaxies. If you are doing EEA type imaging, you'll not need much more than 20 minutes integration to get acceptable images. See https://www.cloudynights.com/g...

Re: Dealing with light pollution

I think a light pollution filter is your first need. I use an Astronomik CLS ( the non ccd one). Also, I'd suggest you go over to the cloudy nights EAA page https://www.cloudynights.com/forum/73-eaa-observation-and-equipment/ and search for unofficial sharpcap users guide. I assume you've already lo...

Re: Gradient Removal

Robin: I thought you might be interested in knowing of a post that was made today over on Cloudy Nights, by Kyle Goodwin He says: As the developer of AstroLive USB I can say that SharpCap is the way to go. I stopped developing and selling AstroLive USB two years ago, so it's quite out of date now. I...
