Re: 32-bit fits file association issue
On Windows 10:
Control Panel > Default programs > Associate a file type or protocol with a program
Under Default Apps, scroll down to Choose default applications by file type
On my machine for .fits I have FITS Liberator. Clicking this gives me other program options.

Re: I can't find a stacked image of M27 in my Fits Lib. File
Thanks Carl for the comments on the stacking of frames. I managed to demo the value of stacking without getting involved with the maths which is usually used on this topic. may in fact have to abandon SC in order to stack pictures dealing with nebulosity Not necessarily - SharpCap can be used in two...

Re: ATIK 320E color
Fabromax I have an Atik 314E mono, which is working fine with SharpCap https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1607 . To get it working, I installed the ASCOM platform, then the Atik driver set. The latest drivers in the Artimis bundle from the Atik website didn't work - it was to do ...

Re: I can't find a stacked image of M27 in my Fits Lib. File
Carl I do agree that some kind of more basic approach to SC could have been provided by it. The basic approach is already built into SharpCap - just capture some frames as shown here Capture1.JPG Capture2.JPG You decide the number of frames. What is the difference between a "light frame" a...

Carl What bit depth would you recommend for a ZWO ASI 178 MC camera?" (add: capturing nebulosity or arms of galaxies) With a CMOS camera ( have access to ZWO, QHY, Altair models), I use: 8-bit for lunar planetary, to achieve highest possible frames per second 16-bit for deep sky, to acquire gre...

Re: M42 chronicles
I cropped to leave only M42/M43, with slight adjustment to Colors > Curves in GIMP. Use of Background Extraction has certainly helped to preserve detail and colour.
