Re: Annoying banding in images
... there are things you can do to lessen its effect including dithering, however, that is something you need to do when capturing Lights. It’s also worth mentioning that a small dither every few frames can smooth out the slight banding in the 294MC. SharpCap can orchestrate the dither using PHD2. ...

Re: Annoying banding in images
Now I'm wondering if I just shouldn't use a master dark at all.

Re: Annoying banding in images
After some careful stretching in PI, I can definitely see the banding in my master dark, and it lines up perfectly with the banding in the iris nebula image. It's very subtle, which explains why it takes so long to build up over hundreds of stacked frames.

Re: Annoying banding in images
Robin, I never use bias frames... I just capture and average about 50 flats, and usually 20-30 darks, and use those two masters. Would doing anything with bias make a difference? I've seen the banding tool, but haven't looked into it since this issue appears over a long period of time, and I don't k...

Annoying banding in images
Does anyone know what is causing this horizontal banding? It usually only appears on long total exposure times, and is especially noticible on dust clouds such as those around the Iris nebula. Orion f/3.9, ASI 294MC-Pro camera with coma corrector and UV/IR cut filter, PHD2 guiding w/dither from SC. ...

Re: Weird diffraction spike issue
Turn the camera through 180 degrees - if the spikes move to the right then whatever is doing it is in the telescope itself, if they stay on the left then the thing rotated with the camera. Robin, Wouldn't this be backwards? We are in cloud and rain now so I can't do any more testing, but I would th...

Re: Smart histogram and Live stacking quiestions
I'll add my .02 cents... After you've used the software a while with your own equipment and conditions, you'll get a pretty good ballpark idea of what works best. In order to get on target as quickly as possible, you'll want to have a dark library set up and ready to go...so concentrate your darks a...
