Re: Gain setting when using sutract bias option
If the histogram peak is at 50% I would think it impossible to get a black master flat. If in your case you are at 50% histogram and getting black flat then some how you've broken physics. All kidding aside I would still shoot for the 50% with mono if using a one shot color. You can also shoot a mas...

Re: Gain setting when using sutract bias option
You'll want to adjust your gain / exposure to put the peak of the white(On Shot Color camera) histogram curve peak at 50% of the horizontal scale. Make sure you don't clip anything on the left side, this may mean less than 50% of the main curve. Your flats should never be black. The 1ms setting for ...

Re: Weird Histogram with Dither
This is normal due to stacking and dithering increases the peaks making it more evident. This is all the overlap on the edges of the image that would be cropped out.

Re: Live Stacks 9-20 to 9-22-19
Thanks for your kind words. The new PHD2 dithering process is working great. While PHD2 is dithering SC lowers the exposure to 1 second and keeps looping 1 second images that are ignored for live stacking. Once PHD2 indicates dithering and settle is complete normal exposure resumes and live stacking...

Re: NEED HELP:PHD2 Guiding stops images from appearing on SC
Are you using a passive or powered USB hub? Is the Hub USB3? I've had success using powered USB3 hubs with a mixture of USB2 and USB3 devices without issues. The rule of thumb I follow is no single is USB cable is more than 5 meters between device and hub or hub and PC. The standard for USB3 cables ...

Re: Dithering Costs a Whole Frame
I've tested the new dithering mode in Live Stack in both 32 and 64 bit versions and it's working very well for me. I was online with Don as he was having issues with the system not resuming after the 1 sec frame loop during settling. I think in Don's case this may be a timing issue. His mount is con...

Re: Flat field usb problem
What's the difference between frames 4, 5 and 6. Frame 4 looks OK. I've opened the three images you have attached in Photoshop and they are all usable with image 4 being best. Which software are you opening the images in? Have you tried fits Liberator? This attached image is your image 4 stretched i...

Re: How do I read the information that I need from my sensor analysis in regards to optimal settings to use my camera
Once sensor analysis is complete the information is used by the "brain" in SharpCap's Smart Histogram. Here's a link to the relevant info in the User Manual. https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/3.2/#Smart%20Histogram TLDR: Once the SC has sensor data it can measure your sky brightness and recommen...
