Re: Problem saving snapshot with ASI294PRO
@robrj - good to hear that yours is working fine - what colour space do you use? presumably a RAW one? I use RAW16. I never tried the snapshot button though. I always do mine with "Save as Viewed" which seems to work (and which the OP said worked fine with his). I'll test it next time I'm...

Re: Problem saving snapshot with ASI294PRO
I just noticed you're saving with the snapshot. I've not tried that yet. I always use Save As Viewed in the pulldown. I'll try it myself the next time I'm out.

Re: Problem saving snapshot with ASI294PRO
I guess what is still confusing me is that it displays OK in SharpCap but doesn't debayer afterwards - SharpCap uses the same debayering algorithms as PIPP etc, expecting a standard bayer grid. I could understand if RGB mode worked OK in SharpCap and RAW looked funny as in RGB mode the debayer happ...

Re: Problem saving snapshot with ASI294PRO
I hope you don't mind but I downloaded your image and ran it through Fitswork. One thing I noticed about your image that's different than mine is that the png file has a debayer pattern in it (like it was a fits file). In Fitswork, I opened it and the selected "Processing->Bayer Interpolation->...

Re: Problem saving snapshot with ASI294PRO
From what I've read, it still functions like an RGGB. The pixels in the CN thread are actually sub-pixels that can be arranged via software in the camera for a special HDR mode. But the way that ZWO implements it, it is still RGGB. When I open a fits file in Fitswork, it loads like RGGB. If you read...

Re: Orion Starshoot Autoguiding Camera
You might be able to put a cheap 0.5x focal reducer on the camera. The distortion on the edge would be bad, but it may be enough to get it working.

Main histogram color lines
My red, green and blue lines in the main histogram rarely peak together and don't move when I adjust the sliders. I know I can see the color adjustments on the mini histogram. Is there something I should be doing to get them to align in the main histogram first? If not, then when I adjust the black ...

Re: Losing polar alignment?
You might also check the bolt that holds the mount head to the tripod (the bolt that runs through the leg separator). If it wasn't tightened enough, you might get some movement in the mount head as it slews.

Re: Final Position of the Camera
I used to do the polar alignment by returning it to home and it seemed to work okay. I only stopped because Robin said not to do it that way. :) Also, I found it easiest to adjust using the numbers only. I don't even look at the graphic. I just make a small adjustment and see how it effects the numb...

Rosette Nebula 24x16s
I took a shot at the Rosette Nebula with my ASI294MC Pro and my Orion ED80T-CF. I used an IDAS LPR-P2 filter. It was cleaned up a bit in Startools and brightened with Photoshop. My primary interest is short exposure video astronomy. 24x16s, 400 gain (click the image for a full size image): https://c...
