Re: bahtinov focus tool problems

Sorry, I can't make that app work on my pc. I have an issue with my cursor where it jumps to the bottom of my screen constantly. Because of this it is almost impossible to set the capture area. Even if I am able to get the image within the capture area, the program does nto work and just makes a mes...

Re: bahtinov focus tool problems

Thanks for the reply. I did check the debayer option and all of my stored capture profiles have that turned on, so not sure if it got inadvertently turned off. At any rate, I tried again last night and basically got the same result after making sure the debayer preview was turned on . See more attac...

Re: DS Sequence Planner questions

Yes it does. I just needed to understand the intended operation, which I now (think I) do.

The DSSP and the Sequence Editor are very powerful and useful tools. Well worth the price of admission! Very happy to have these available.

Re: DS Sequence Planner questions

Thanks for you prompt reply! Please see my further comments below. Hi, a good set of questions :) 1... There's no way to do this using the planner - normally you would expect to solve/sync then guide, which means further solve/sync would not be needed. The full editor allows you the extra flexibilit...

DS Sequence Planner questions

I used the DSSP last night for the first time and ran into some issues: 1. Could not find a way to use the DSSP to schedule a solve and resync after a number of exposures. I am not guiding so need to do this. I DID find a way to use the editor for this purpose, but can't update the schedule file and...

Re: smart histogram and calculator questions

YES!

However, this still leaves me puzzled about the benefit of having a 'fast' (i.e. low F-ratio) telescope for AP. Not really a SharpCap question at all, but goes against what I have read since a lower F-ratio would lead to LESS ability to detect faint objects at a given sky brightness.

bahtinov focus tool problems

I have tried to use the Bahtinov focus tool several times, but noticed that the 'best' result that it finds puts the center spike off to one side. See attached pics. The one titled 'sharpcap optimum...' is the result of setting the focus score average to slowly oscillate around zero. The one titled ...

Re: smart histogram and calculator questions

Sorry, I still don't get it. You said above: "the faintest detected object brightness value does actually decrease at any particular exposure length as the sky brightness increases." Then you said: "so the faintest object for 4e/p/s is brighter than the faintest for 2 e/p/s" Isn'...

Re: smart histogram and calculator questions

>I honestly can't see where you are getting the 2.3 and 3.3 figures from on those screenshots. Sorry, I was only quoting the most significant digits and was estimating. Should have said 0.023 and 0.033. >The correct way to get the faintest object value is to click the mouse over the graph to read of...
