Re: sharpcap eclipse settings

Hi, I suspect you have a combination of up to 3 problems 1) Camera settings have too short an exposure/too low gain, so the image is dark 2) Focus position may be quite different for camera compared to eyepiece, so may be badly out of focus 3) The area you see through the camera will be much smaller...

Re: How do I get a target after achieveing Polar Alignment

Hi, yes, it does certainly sound as though once you have done the polar alignment the mount control software (GSS) is confused about the position that the telescope is pointing to. The software can only really measure *relative* movements of the mount , so if its initial data on the absolute positio...

Re: Sky watcher hand control pannel always goes east

Hi, the trick to working out the cause is to try different tests to see how extensive the problem is - for example... * Try another application that can also control the ASCOM driver for the mount and see if that has the same problem - if it does then the problem is somewhere in the ASCOM driver rat...

Re: Eclipse sequence - Dark, even, horizontal banding on the really short exposures

Hi Bill, you are correct that unexpected banding is most likely related to the camera being a progressive scan camera. There are typically two main causes in my experience 1) Artificial light sources that flicker at 50/60hz - shouldn't be relevant in your case as you were using the sun as illuminati...

Re: Alnitak Flip-Flat

Hi, just to give an update - I have borrowed a motorized flat panel from my friends at Altair Astro and have made some good progress on implementing the code required in SharpCap to control the panel and use it automatically in certain actions (create flat, etc). This should all work for any motoriz...

Re: v4.1.11974 focus scan bug

Hi Carl, thanks for the report. The key bit in the log that I think corresponds to your observation of the focuser running wild is this part, which marks the end of the scan Info 22:33:46.442751 #1 Measured focus score at position 31239.000 of 4.4031 +- 0.0617 in async Task SharpCap.FrameTransforms....

Re: Live View framing, possibly ROI related.

Hi,

thanks for the suggestion - that's a nice idea. I might also consider turning those options off automatically when capturing flats/darks (I already turn off some options automatically during dark/flat capture to avoid problems).

cheers,

Robin

Re: CA Reduction with Folder Monitor Camera

Hi, it should work in the folder monitor camera, but will not show up if SharpCap thinks the images are monochrome. This could happen if the images are in TIFF format or in FITS but do not have the header information that SharpCap expects to identify them as RAW colour images. If the colour space fo...

Re: ThatWhiteScreen

Hi, as Menno suggests, you could have previously used the display histogram stretch to either invert or stretch the image and that setting will be remembered for next time if you have the option to automatically restore camera settings turned on. There are also some other camera settings that can ha...

Re: How do I get a target after achieveing Polar Alignment

Hi, a lot depends on how you use your equipment apart from using it with GSS... If you only use the equipment with GSS then GSS should remember the position of the mount when it was last used, and providing when you start the next time it is still physically in the same position, GSS should pick up ...
